redman81
Hoping that we get a good defensive minded HC or at least a good DC, I'm throwing this out there as a possible starting D next year to see what people think. I would keep the secondary pretty much the same to start off, with Revis at corner and Rhodes and Elam at safeties. The other corner IMO will be Lowery who should perform better with a years experience, but I'd like to see another decent veteran to help sub with him. The linebackers I would keep would be Pace at OLB and Harris at MLB. The other MLB I think should be who wins out between Barton (getting old and slow tho) and this young kid Trusnik. Maybe the kid has something who knows. The other OLB I want gone, Thomas hasn't cut it for me. If we somehow get Rex Ryan I'd like to see Bart Scott as a FA pick up for us. Last but not least the D line. Im giving Ellis a couple more years in him next to Jenkins. Hopefully we can get a conditioning program for Jenkins so he doesn't break down as much at end of year. My other DE would be from draft, Everett Brown from FSU. The guy just knows how to get to the QB. So here's what my D would look like on opening day. DE-Ellis NT-Jenkins DE-Brown OLB-Pace MLB-Harris MLB-Barton/Trusnik OLB-Scott CB- Revis SS-Elam FS-Rhodes CB-Lowery Let me know what you think. I see the jets as big players in free agency again.
IBleedGangGreen12
I definitely think Lowery would be a better fit as a Safety b/c he relies more on reads and thinking than speed. He played a little Safety at SJSU to so it shouldn't be that difficult of a transition.
madmike1
What the hell makes you think that they would ever had Lowrey a starting CB job next season? He SUCKS.
BroadwayJ667
oh one thing though, about bart scott, being that i am also a ravens fan, look at all the linebackers that played next to ray lewis and have done nothing since leaving, Jaime Sharper, Ed Hartwell, and Adailius Thomas. one they don't play the same D where they go and Ray makes them better. maybe if the Jets get Rex Ryan that won't be a problem, but be very cautious about those LBs
redman81
Lets not rip Lowery so quick. I mean damn it was his first year. If he doesn't play well at corner next year then yeah you can maybe say he can't play that position, maybe give him a try at safety. But, alot of the plays he was beat on he was right there going for the ball. Not like some of the other sh*tty CB's in the past i.e Mickens, who were no where near the ball when they were getting torched.

I just picked Scott because I think he'd be easier to get from Balt. than Lewis or Suggs. And I personally don't want Suggs, I think he is a scumbag. #27TheDominator
i like lowery, but i think a good coach will move him to strong safety, as far as the other corner, i believe the Jets will make an attempt at Dunta Robinson or Nnamdi Asomugha m belief is that David Barret, Brian Thomas and Laverneus Coles will be gone in an attempt to get younger and take money off the payroll. I see the jets as big players in free agency again. AFAIK, the Raiders have basically stated that they will franchise Asomugha again. You can probably scratch him off your wish list. I'm not one of the doom and gloomers about the Jets cap, but Asomugha is going to go for some serious coin and I'm not sure the Jets would be able to afford him even if he's not franchised. They have to upgrade Lowery, but I'd expect a MUCH cheaper option. They guaranteed Coles money, so getting rid of him doesn't save anything and he is the best player at a position of weakness. I dislike Thomas as much as anybody, but his deal also makes it likely he'll stay. Not sure of the exact figures, but I think he'd be $6M in dead money accellerated against the cap. It costs less than $2M to keep him, so it doesn't make sense to dump him. This is especially true when you consider that the 2010 cap is in the air (may be uncapped) in which case you could cut him with impugnity (or not care about his salary) then. I don't understand how Barrett hung on so long. I always thought he might move to safety, but he didn't look good there either. Barton is a UFA and he is probably gone. He's a JAG and you might as well play a younger JAG (Trusnick/young FA/draft pick) and hope you find something.
