war ensemble
I might try this on an old lappie laying around, depending on the system requirements. I'm liking the new taskbar, it looks almost like a dock now with the larger icons. It looks a lot cleaner. I also like the jump lists a bit. The best part will probably be the hardware boost in efficiency over the likes of Vista, that was the biggest problem the last go-around. Hopefully it works well. ECURB
bump Just put Windows 7 Ultimate on my main PC and love it... Vista was good, 7 is better, cool when that happens. 7 is smoother than XP, finds drivers like cake, and seems to be smarter about everything. Windows 7 does seem to be a huge step in the right direction for them though. I can't tell you how many businesses we deal with that just avoided Vista all together. JerryK
Win7 64bit is often a pain in the butt. It works great for vanilla work (ms office) but lots of other apps seem to have driver issues. Right now, not having a cisco vpn client is the biggie.
billybroome
Vista was good Tell that story walking. Vista sucked. The company I work for hired an IT tech to roll us back into XP just so we could keep our system functioning. When Windows 7 came out he advised us to upgrade, and we did. All without having to endure the Vista debacle.

Right now, not having a cisco vpn client is the biggie. There is a lot of that going on. Same with Server 2008. We had to rewrite a lot, espeically anything that uses IIS in Server 2008. But even though it is a PIA the new OSes seem so much better. So that is a good thing.
Bugg
Would be disinclined to bother.Unless you long to resume your conversation with "Steve" in Bangalore. Got the Mrs. the Ipad for her birthday. Between her and the kids the ipad is almost never available. Must be a damn good machine because I have yet to hold it since she unwrapped it. Bob
My daughter's new laptop has Windows 7. She seems to like it. Mine has Vista and, despite the hype, has given me no problems.
rillo
Still running XP on my desktop, however when I build a new machine I'll be using 7, heard nothing but good things about it.

ECURB
+1 I've never had an issue with Vista. Never had issues here either... one of the biggest problems was not having the proper hardware. People forget that usually it is not Vista screwing up, it is your 756mb RAM 1.9ghz machine from Walmart that ruins it. I liked Vista at home better than XP at work and now 7 trumps both... I wish they would go to 7 at work...
MadBacker Prime
Tell that story walking. Vista sucked. The company I work for hired an IT tech to roll us back into XP just so we could keep our system functioning. When Windows 7 came out he advised us to upgrade, and we did. All without having to endure the Vista debacle. That was mostly because 3rd party vendors were being the curve in releasing updates and drivers. I run a mixed environment at our agency and we have about 75 Vista machines that have worked perfectly since installed. Including the applications we use such as Ulti Pro and Lytec. I do love Windows 7, that is currently on about 50 machines and actually we had some print driver issues with DNS but that was resolved with a patch. That was the only major problem. Finally I LOVE, LOVE, love, Windows Server 2008. Windows pays the bills for this Jet fan! Apple can suck my pit!
