Cyberjet
Free Agents don't win you Super Bowls. There is a team up north that does a pretty good job of acquiring free agents or making trades (ie. undrafted) that has supplemented their team very well. Mike Vrabel Rodney Harrison Rosie Colvin Junior Seau Stephen Neal Mike Compton Joe Andruzzi Corey Dillon, Adalius Thomas Randy Moss Larry Izzo Heath Evans Jabar Gaffney Roman Phifer Antwan Smith Bobby Hamilton Christian Fauria Reche Caldwell David Patton
Jetlag
I could sell them some sweet oceanfront property in Denver. Don't believe him, Denver isn't even next to an ocean.

We're going to hire an unproven NFL Head Coach coach anyway, why not talk to Urban Meyer? ****. Maybe we can even talk to Steve Spurrier. QUICK! Somebody get Teddy Cotrell and Paul Hackett on the phone now!!

The point is that the Patriots are a bit overrated in their success in the draft, but do a very good job of bringing in free agents or trades that take their team to the next level. The Jets also have a core draft group which they are building around with free agents - free agents are almost an absolute necessity in today's NFL. You don't need big name Free Agents to win. You can pick up decent / average FA pickups and pair them with solid, great Draft Picks that you are able to keep in house. That is how you win. The Pats do tend to stay away from big free agent signings though I think they did indulge a couple of years ago - the year they signed Adlai Thomas. The Patriots have a system that works for them, the Jets instability at HC has us in a constant state of flux when it comes down to "systems". If you look at some of the "young" coaches that have come into organizations that have the pieces, they haven't exactly reinvented the wheel. Tomlin kept LeBeau and the 3-4 and the same philosophy on Offense. Harbaugh let Rex Ryan do his thing and also didnt' exactly change the Ravens "run first" offense. My hope is whoever comes in can make us work with the pieces we have, draft complimentary players and do the same thing in FA signings. We need to stop with the square peg/round hole issue. Jetkid94
In the paper today there was an article saying the giants are considering making spags an official coach in waiting if that would keep him from leaving. that means he would get a promise to be the HC when coughlin retires or is fired, coughlins contract is up in 2010. The Jets also plan on keeping Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator under either man, the source said. Great. Woody and Tanny have a real hard on for Schotty.
