Same ole Jets... of course SJ, this is 2000 all over again-we're like Bill Murray in Groundhog's Day. In 2000 Marvin Lewis was the hot DC from the AFC's best defensive team and we had interest in him, instead we got Herman Frickin' Edwards. Same thing'll happen to us this year except Bob Sutton will be elevated or Baby Schott. WE'RE THE JETS MAN!!!!! Of COURSE this is going to happen to us... Yes, Marvin Lewis has been such a wildly successful head coach and disciplinarian that the Jets are still kicking themselves for not locking him up when they had the chance. SoFlaJets
I understand that Lewis stinks and all but at the time he was out there in the HC-ing gene-pool he had just won a SB...how he still has that job is almost as amazing as Herman Edwards still having his at KC.... New York Mick
ya i think it does,,will us waiting til lhe is available cuase we think he will say yes and then get burned,, That makes more sense then Will the Jets get burned by waiting till after playoffs for Ryan?. The word available is rather important as far as Ryan goes, if you mean we'll wait to sign him and then he'll sign with someone else and then the guy that was our second choice will already be gone then it makes more sense but you didn't mention that so again it doesn't really make much sense. Is that a run on sentence?

Ryno the Jet
As scary as it sounds, the Jets have a "back up plan" in place with Schotty. I used quotes because that is sure as hell not what I would call being rejected by Ryan and settling with Brian. This "plan" is a sure path to another year where I can rely on the "same ol' Jets." Alas, such is life, but I must admit, Rex is the guy I want to stand as the leader on the Jets sideline. If for nothing else, it allows me to do what Jet fans do best: hope. slats
If the Jets really want Ryan, you've got to root for a Baltimore loss on Sunday. A great defensive effort wasted by a Pennington-like performance by Joe Flacco would be the best case scenario. While I'd have to think that if they were waiting 'til after the Super Bowl that they'd've had some sort of under the table agreement in place, it still puts them at a disadvantage putting together a staff if they have to wait to February to make it official. It's sh!t like that which results in Bob Sutton being retained as DC.
CTM
If the Jets wait for Ryan specifically it will be because there is a hand shake deal in place. I think that it's highly unlikely Ryan walks away from that.
SMC
If the Jets wait for Ryan specifically it will be because there is a hand shake deal in place. I think that's a remote possibility I think it's more than just remote. If we are to believe what is reported (big if), then 2 of the 3 top Jets candidates may be hired RIGHT NOW. If the Jets don't hire anyone this week, then it's safe to assume that the Jets want Ryan. If the Ravens win and the Jets don't hire anyone next week, then it's safe to assume that there's something orally agreed upon between the Jets and Rex. I had decided another way to phrase what I wanted to say (that it's unlikel Ryan would go back on his word) and was chatting with the wife. 124
Oh no! We may get burned! Say it ain't so!? How about one of the other unproven guys that are out there? Why don't we just sign one of them? Same damn thing. A major risk that for the Jets will never pay off.
Stonehands
during the interview process, a common question is, "if you are offered the position, will you accept?" I think they will have a good idea, if they wait for Rex, that he is going to take the job. I think you could see other teams that are linked with Rex deciding on HC's before Rex is available because they know it is a done deal.

Jetscode1
This thread has a little too much pessismism...If the JETS make an offer my money is on Ryan accepting the job...the JETS have the best chance to turn it around than any other team with a vacancy. Although Rex has interviewed with some teams the past several years he has also been on the outside looking in...whether the other teams didn't hire him because of his interview skills, fell in love with the other guy, or maybe the were intimidated by the "Sons of Buddy Ryan"...though that would make a nice spin on the remake to the old movie "the sons of Katie Elder"...he obviously wants the opportunity to lead his own team. All the articles, podcast of TV interviews has convinced me he is the right choice for our team...Woody needs to make a good offer and Ryan will accept.
