TNJet
Rex Ryan saw what Clemens could do to a good defense week 2 of 2007. In the 3rd and 4th quarter Kellen had his Ravens D on their toes in a hurryup shotgun, rallying and being a gunslinger only to have Justin MCcraphands ruin his first career start. Ryan may think he can be our starter after nearly shredding his own defense.

piney
ehh..I don't see it, one game a year ago....and the only game Clemens really did anything well, since then he has been pretty bad... I think the guy to benefit the most from a new HC may be Ainge... Coaches want guys who make good decisions, complete the high percentage play over taking chances... Ainge has basically been compared to Chad, and although I am not a big fan of that, Chad is more like what coaches want in a QB. I think, in a open competition between the three, Ainge would have a shot if he played well and exhibited excellent decision making over actual production. I guess, though, that would go for either of the QBs..... I have very little faith in Clemens decision making abilities.

JiFtheOracle
I am sure he remembers, but I gotta believe that it will be an open competition or we will bring in some veteran help. Or Favre decides to return in June.

124
Why the Ratliff hate? And don't give me that BS about him being small because that was ludicrous. He is small on the field. I don't care what his NFL.com stats are. If you think Leon Washington is 5'8, 200 you're kidding yourself with that one too. He ran the spread at Utah. He wasn't drafted. He barely stayed on the team as a Practice Squad guy / 3rd stringer, for two years. Barely. His "great" performance was against 3rd stringers, UPS Drivers & Grocery Clerks. He is loved for no ****ing reason. He is not the ****ing answer. I will not talk about this anymore, its ****ing stupid to continue to talk about someone who won't even get on the field against 2nd stringers, let alone a meaningful game. 124
Oh, and for those who say "Kellen Sucks" cause he can't beat out a 2x Comeback Player Of The Year QB with outstanding short range accuracy, how about how bad does Ratliff SUCK if he can't beat out Kellen, who you all say ****ing blow and that the organization has no confidence in. Why hasn't Ratliff been made the 2 then? Hmmm? I'd love to hear this one! But I just had to add that, now I'm done with it.

I'm not gonna believe that the NFL is lying about his size. Thats just dumb. I'll address your other points though. You're right he ran the spread. How do you know how good of a QB he would've been if he had played in another system? You don't. How do you know that the REASON he wasn't drafted is that he was viewed as a spread QB which caused him to be undervalued? You don't. How do you know that he "barely" stayed on the practice squad? Were you in the room when the Jets were making the cutdowns? People like him because he played very well in the preseason and showed a very good arm. The throws he made were great and that had nothing to do with who he was playing against. I don't think anything is saying to just hand the guy the job but it's clear that the Jets are high on him and he should be given the chance to compete for the job against a veteran QB the Jets bring in in TC. He's gonna have to win the job just like any other QB should. If he plays like crap in TC he won't get it.

jason423
Ryan also saw one of the worst QB performances for 3 quarters in that game. Unless Favre comes back nobody will have any advantage for the QB spot when the season comes back and its very likely that neither player even finishes the year as the starter. Exactly. I get so tired of hearing that argument. I seem to remember a RB by the name of Derrick Ward who looked great in the Jets TC and against third stringers in pre-season. The Jets let him go. Gee, whatever happened to him. Maybe he is driving a UPS truck. Talent is talent.

They have a competition amongst a bunch of question marks. Clemens 2007 was abysmal.
