Borgoguy
Breaking News: This sh*t is a lot of work. Film at 11. I'm not joking at all: What actually is involved in running the site? What makes it so difficult? Again, I am not being sarcastic. We are all desperate to know the inner workings of this media juggernaut. At least in my mind, I am imagining you in a control room that's a cross between a deployment pod in a 60s-era missile silo, and a modern day NORAD control room. Just dealing with the beat writers on a daily basis I guess. My cell phone doesn't stop ringing. They are constantly calling to bounce ideas and really to just get the feel for what the fan is thinking. Boland called the other day and said he was going to run an article that said: Spags, Ryan and Grimm were the final three candidates. I told him people wouldn't freak out over that. So then he inserted Baby Schott as a final candidate and a sh*t storm was the result. I felt bad involving Baby Schott in these sorts of games but we have newspapers to sell. I am being serious, you nut. Is it the technical aspects--and inherent problems--that take up most of your site management responsibilities? Bob
The board isn't the tough part, aside from moderating. Keeping the content updated is a PITA. That's why I lost interest in even my modest Jets site and why I was so happy that Max & Co. were willing to take this on when JI jumped the shark. Jbro22
Thanks for the insight, Bob. The overall look of the site has to be pretty hard from the start. I mean look at JI, every time I look at that place I feel like its 1997. Keeping up the graphics can't be easy.
SoFlaJets
Jets Central and the guys at The Jets Blog worked together at one of the two sites and then they split up to start seperate sites. JC and TJB (were and) are a great source of info-especially during the off-season. I used to post a lot of threads with stuff from JC that got a lot of play on the site when there wasn't much real stuff to talk about, esp. during the endless is Chad better than Brady thread wars. Their last activity was right after the Jets win over New England.

Is it the technical aspects--and inherent problems--that take up most of your site management responsibilities? Or Smizzy's incessant questions pertaining to bath gels and unguents? It doesn't have to be a lot of work. The truth is, I want it to be a lot of work. I could mail it in and just live off the VIP money. But I like getting involved in all the drama and trying to make it worse whenever possible. The technical stuff takes time. The content takes time. Getting BP to not ban everyone that he wants to ban is truly what takes the most time though.
