Welcome back EY

Hey.

Thanks for the thread BP.

It's true, I am back. I'm currently getting some photos up on Facebook, and I'll share a few here as well.

As for the trip, it was absolutely amazing. I don't really even have words to describe it.

I climbed mountains

floated in the dead sea

ate falafel, hummus, and schwarma

explored Jerusalem

partied in Eilat

spent time with soldiers

rode a camel

ran along the Red Sea

explored Tel Aviv

learned how to curse in Hebrew

saw the holocaust museum, listened to a survivor speak

visited the soldier's cemetary

toured battle grounds in fights with Syria and Lebanon

wore Tefillin at the Western Wall

never slept

made great new friends

all in all had the time of my life and never even for a second felt unsafe.

I'm definitely leaving things out.

I felt an incredible connection to the place, and would move there tomorrow if I could.

It was also interesting to spend some time in a couple of Arab cities/villages that are within the borders of Israel and live in complete peace. The situation over there is a huge mess, but not everything is as black and white as the media may have you think.

sounds like an awesome trip ey. was it your 1st time there? It blows me away when I hear how amazed people are after visiting Isreal.

I would take much more than a plane ticket to get me there

It was my first time there, and it was really amazing.

All I can tell you is that right now, if you keep yourself away from Gaza, which is a tiny piece of land just north of Egypt, you're really in no more danger than you are walking around NYC.

I felt just as likely to get blown up as I do to get shot on a day to day basis. It can happen, but chances are I'll be just fine.
