If Ryan leaves, other Ravens coaches could follow

From staff reports 4:39 PM EST, January 18, 2009 If the Ravens lose today to the Pittsburgh Steelers, don't be surprised if defensive coordinator Rex Ryan is named head coach of the New York Jets Monday or Tuesday. Ryan and the Jets are reportedly close to a deal, but nothing is definite.

If Ryan leaves, look for him to take several Ravens coaches with him, including linebackers coach Mike Pettine, who would become the Jets' defensive coordinator. Ryan also likes Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson, who would become the Jets' offensive coordinator. The only problem is that Jackson is also being approached by Bengals coach Marvin Lewis to become Cincinnati's offensive coordinator.

Jackson was once the Bengals' wide receivers coach, and tutored Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer in college.

NICE!!! Maybe this is the start of a Raven-style ELITE defense coming to the JETS. Also like the OC speculation. The guy really has done a great job bringing along Flacco this year. **crosses fingers**

Whatever Oakland Raiders linebackers coach Don Martindale said Saturday during his nearly five-hour interview for the team's vacant defensive coordinator position seems to have resonated with his boss, who is considering doing Martindale one better.

I remember almost every mock draft originally had him a 3rd round prospect shortly before the draft he moved up as a solid 2nd round prospect

No one thought he was worthy of being picked 6 overall. Thats just revisionist history at it's best.

Pretty much my memory as well. If we drafted Flacco #6 overall that would have been considered a rival to their 1980s-1990s epic draft blunder reaches. Oh, and he wouldn't have played as a rookie because Chad would have beaten him out in camp, further cementing the idiocy of the pick.

Hell, the Saints should have drafted Marques Colston #2 overall instead of Reggie Bush in 2006. Might as well play that game.

3-4 de? for one, he was never a 3-4 de, two, he never could be. in a 3-4 he is an olb.

we are getting nothing from him now. why not just use him as a fourth down lineman in pass rushing sits? Kind of a Charles Haley thing. Of course, he would have to stop trying to bull rush every 360 lb OT in the league.
