Sperm Edwards
Ravens whiffed a lot of tackles on blitzes. They were in the backfield on passing plays untouched & just flat-out whiffed. Even with those, they put Roethlisberger on the ground 4x. Also Baltimore's offense couldn't stay on the field for more than 60 seconds at a time in the first half. That 3rd & 1 / 4th & 1 in the first quarter was painful to watch, and a total waste of the defense causing & recovering a fumble in Steelers territory. But just in general, defending a rookie Joe Flacco is more than a little easier than defending a veteran Ben Roethlisberger. And I think Rolle was off the field a lot, leaving them with no legit corners at times. They did totally shut down Pittsburgh's top-5 ranked ground game. Baltimore kept turning the ball over. I think 4x(?) not counting that last pick. They weren't perfect, but it's not like Pittsburgh just ran right over them, scored at will, ran up the score, and erased constant good play by their offense. I didn't come away from the game thinking, "Ugh - THIS piece of crap is going to be the Jets defense?"
Maxman
Pittsburgh has a top 5 running game? The end result is what matters -- how many points did the defense give up? They were on the field a lot like Sperm said. All in all they played well.

They were on the field a lot like Sperm said. All in all they played well. 13 points. The second field goal was after the first flacco INT. Tat play to holmes was a joke. a terrib le throw by Ben that luckily found the mark. The Ward play in the first quarter was BAD. Letting Ben get away was bad but he is good at that. 13 points on the road is not bad. They did look tired though. I buy this 17 straight weeks stuff. They had their bye Week 2? aec4
Ravens D played pretty well. Not great, but well. If we're going to not count a FG because of a Flacco INT then we need to count a TD that Sweed dropped. That's only fair. So, I'd say just count what was scored (16) agaisnt the D. Dick LeBeau is a GREAT defensive co-ordinator operating a great defense. You want to hire him as HC? At 72 years of age?

#27TheDominator
And I think Rolle was off the field a lot, leaving them with no legit corners at times. Pretty sure Rolle was a DNP. That left Frank Sky Walker and your favorite Fabian Washington. I think Walker got hurt and replaced by Cory Ivey who got lit up by Limas Sweed and had to leave the game too. They were really scrambling at CB.

When Fabian Washington is starting you know it's a sad state of affairs. Ryan actually did a good job IMO of covering up those weaknesses with pressure but Ben is simply too good at extending plays. We had an entire thread on him yesterday. I believe the proper term is "garbage".
