JETSorDIE
God knows why we did not go with a retractable roof.. Could you imagine a SuperBowl in NYC.... (ok NJ). Are there any provisions in the design in the New Stadium to reduce the swirling winds in the Meadowlands? Also it would be nice for a design like Seattle to maximize the 12th man. I would hate a dome which is what it would be after the second half if the season.
JETSorDIE
I would hate a dome which is what it would be after the second half if the season. maybe but you have choices on if to close it.. of course we could keep it open for miami and other warm weather teams. I would have closed it for the denver game though . It could be used as an added dimention to the Home field advantage. but hosting a SB would be worth the dome thing for 1/2 the season.. though .. NFL REGULATIONS: If a team has a retractable dome, they must close it in ALL forms of inclement weather. We lose home field advantage of the cold, Rain, high winds & snow in those situations - which no team truly wants to lose. It's just that simple... Bugg
Cost-wise a retractable roof would've skyrocketed an already tight stadium construction budget. Practically whow ants to come to NYC in February for the Super Bowl? And how often would that be anyway-3 times every 2 decades? Price-wise it could not be justified. aec4
I think at one point they were considering a design that wouldn't have a dome, BUT would be able to be adapted for a temporary dome... but then they scrapped that too
BwanaZulia
If you want to watch games in a dome, go see Arena Football. If Arizona had to go to Phil and play the Eagles, it would have been a different game. Weather is an advantage to the home team. I hope they just make the stadium have the acoustics of a drum so it is the loudest stadium in the league. THAT is a huge and REAL advantage.
