True, but Buddy's problem was that he was insane.

Buddy Ryan believed that it was defense vs. offense even on his own team. He used to provoke fights between the defense and offense during practices. That's what led him to punch Kevin Gilbride in the face on national TV. Buddy was a devisive figure on his teams because the offensive coaches and players felt like they were the enemy even though Buddy was suppose to be the coach of all.

And this is Buddy Ryan's quote (taken from another JN thread):

"We will keep constant pressure on our opponent and their offense. Our multiple defensive scheme will hamper their ability to identify our intentions by giving them an ever-changing picture on defense. A quarterback has never completed a pass when he was flat on his back. We must hit the QB hard and often. QB’s are over-paid, over-rated, pompous bastards and must be punished. You can't be an effective HC if you believe such, which Ryan did.
