Byron Leftwich

I agree.

We need to bring in a veteran to compete with Clemens and be his backup if something were to happen to him. Garcia would want the job, so he doesn't work, so the best next option is Leftwich or maybe David Carr.

I brought this up in a different forum I was in and think it's a good option. I personally feel if schotty stays than Clemens and Ratliff will have a clear advantage with knowing the playbook, however Leftwich showed this year in Pitt that if he isn't asked to be Big Ben he can be more than serviceable.

If he is kept upright he can put the ball where he wants and has always had a cannon for an arm. His only problem has been staying healthy and his long as hell release. He has seemed to correct the later and I think he should be given a shot.

Although, I personally seem him winding up in chicago. Angelo has already expressed interest.

He'd be a nice stop gap veteran as a nice insurance policy for a young QB but I think he'd rather go a team where he'd be garaunteed to start. If we can get him though by all means they should go for it. As long as we were a run first team and the line gave him time for that wind up of his he'd do fine.

chad pennington has the slowest.....everyone else in the running is a distant 2nd

No doubt. Give credit to Miami for knowing this and making the flea flicker part of their standard offensive package. Of course, that crap doesn't work against good defenses like the Ravens.
