I am doing a 180 on Rex Ryan

WOW. Just got done watching the interview and I am impressed. We still don't know what kind of Head Coach this guy is going to be, but I love his personality, I love that he is confident, I love that he is honest, wow. Maybe I just needed to hear him speak, but after he spoke, and Cotchery spoke, I am on the Rex Ryan Bandwagon. Sign me up today January 21st 2009 as being on the Ryan Express. Like I said, we still don't know what a HC he will be, but I am excited for this Defense and the Offense as Rex is going to bring to the Jets what I LOVE.

Physical, pound the ball offense. If we throw the ball more than 25 games, the OC should be shot. Pound the ball, win the game.

That was quick.

The best thing about Rex is that you don't just have to take his word for it, look at what he has done in his career? He's a good blend of resume & personality.

With Herm, he had a good personality, but he really didn't have a resume. He was an assistant HC and never a coordinator.

With Mangini, he was a 1 year unsuccessful DC with a bad personality (for football) without a resume. Woody hired him because of his connection to Belichick and his reputation as a smart coach.

In a nutshell, Rex combines: personality + smarts + aggressiveness.

Damn, that was quick...what kind of coach did you think Ryan was? He's always been a take no prisoners type of guy.

I had to hear him speak. I know he has come up with these exotic blitz packages but when you hear how confident he is and how we're going to be a running team and a mean, fierce team, and when you open up with a line saying you think we'll see Barack Obama sometime soon, I'm sold. I can't think of a Jets coach to come up and talk about Super Bowl in his first Press Conference like he did since, well, Parcells.

Yeah, NS. It's not like he snuck up on people. We all knew his personality and resume.

But it's good for 124 to hear it himself (I doubt he's every seen a Rex press conference or read his quotes before).

If he is anything like his Dad then WATCH OUT NFL...

The Jets finally look like they are going to get the attitude adjustment they so desperately need.

No more sitting back and letting the offense dictate how you play defense. They want to go 5 wide, fine then we send six.

No Fear out there. As Lawrence Taylor said

"Let's go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs and have some fun"

Theres a difference when you flip flop once instead of all the time. ;)

But you arn't a flip flopper either, IrishJet. Nobody takes aec4 or MadMike seriously.

But the man's a professional 124...A PROFESSIONAL!!! No one dare questions aec4's views.

I have no problem with people changing opinions, welcome to the good side. I'm the captain of the Ryan fanclub BTW, just so everyone knows.:winking0001:

Hey who know how good a coach he will be- at least his background and personality are of good caliber. And he will show some emotion on the sideline!

Face it football's an emotional sport. I could never understand how Mangini could just stand there with no emotion the entire game.

He is very confident in himself, a tad c0cky, but does it with a certain level of respect where he doesnt come off as a blow hard.

Hopefully it all works out.

Good Luck, Rex

He is confident not ****y. Mangini was ****y.

You saw it one way I saw it another. Again, its not a problem because there is a respect factor there.

I thought his "I expect to meet the president soon" was as c0cky of a comment as there could be.

But it's all good. He has to put up.

Mangini's problem was that he thought he could have all the ingredients from a gourmet meal sent to his house by Fresh Direct and think he'd automatically cook like a 3 star chef.

He took Belichick's concept of "let's not get too high after a victory or too low after a loss" and used that in everything, without understanding why Belichick had that motto.

Plus, Mangini ignored the fact that Belichick and his players are demonstrative on the sidelines. Belichick is no Tom Coughlin, but Belichick is very active on the sidelines either jawing at referees, yelling at his players or coaches, or huddling up with them before plays.

Fair enough...

To me though... Ryan comes off as a confident guy who knows what he is doing yet also knwos he must use guys the right way... he is not almighty and knows he needs to make the pieces fit properly...

Mangini was a c0cky POS that thought his way was the only way... that to me defines c0cky.

I love Rex's attitude to this defense - We got the big man in the middle in Kris Jenkins...Some good edge rushers...A ball hawk at safety...And waht I believe to be the BEST CB in football.

Love his comparison of Gholston to Suggs and how he was excited to utilize Suggs physical abilities in Baltimore. The way he took Suggs under his wing and developed him into what he is now is great to hear about.
