The Jets tried to mirror the Pats organization and it didn't work

NIGHT STALKER

Recommended Posts

I'm glad the Jets have decided to go another route. That's the best thing I got out of this hiring yesterday. The new HC is even going to make his coaches available to the media which should be a plus...can't wait for the Westhoff pressers.

What works for one organization doesn't necessarily mean it will work for another. We need our own identity and so far the "talk" has been great. The "walk" is what we all want to see though.

I am glad we didnt go the copycat role. We have been doing that way too long. Let the rest of the leauge keep hiring BB "rejects"

Lets set our own agenda instead of be the followers=right Rex.

Very true.

That's why I thought the NBCSports article about the Jets being Baltimore-North was offbase. Rex is bringing a certain style of play to the Jets as already constituted.

Mangini, on the other hand, transformed the Jets and tried to ape what the Patriots do in every way.

More like the Jets didn't have the patience..we were headed in the right direction but now its a great big mystery..AGAIN..

All blitz happy fans are excited..did you see what happened to the blitz happy Eagles..they got burnt..time and time again by Warner..Be careful what you wish for.

It's tough to copy a franchise that has one of the top 5 QB's in the game today

We need a franchise QB......that is why I hope that Favre will comeback for 1 more season

Isn't a franchise QB one you can build your team around? Favre may still have something left in the tank, but he's not a franchise QB!

I was sitting outside last night NS, thinking about Mangini and his bullspit policy of making pros run laps when they screwed up in practice. Can you imagine some boss taking you to task with that kind of pettiness? These are professionals. I would NEVER want to work for a dick like that...I'm so glad Mangini and all his "Jets' core values" crap is gone. What does that even mean?

yea Glenn but when you make AFL-caliber QB's look like friggin Joe Montana week-in week-out, well I'd rather make them pay with some shots to the jaw. Kurt Warner is NOT Shaun Hill, or Seneca Wallace or even Chad frickin' Pennington

well i assume this early with his rules and military management style..

woody said at presser 'this isnt military, its a people business and i wanted a players coach'..nuff said IMHO

That didnt stop the Jets from spending (same as the yanks) like there was no tomorrow last season. Throw in some in roids and Woody might of had a winner.

You mean like Big Papi?! You'd have to be on something yourself if you think this is the same guy you got from the Twins.

I see your infatuation with the Sox continues on the football board.

Please let us know what gives you that idea.

SoFla

Yeah, instilling discipline and values in players is always bad.

If you take shortcuts or ignore basic fundamentals, in football or life, you are doomed to failure. Bitch and whine all you want about payoffs, but the Patriots are usually one of the least penalized teams due to discipline. Ditto the Steelers and Colts. That is why when the Colts have a brainfart in overtime it is so out of the ordinary.

yea I know that PF but making future Hall Of Famers like Alan Faneca and Brett Favre have to run a lap in the middle of the summer is petty...all I know is if I made a mistake at work and had to be embarrassed every time by some friggin fat out of shape bully I wouldn't like it. I'm sure the Jets players weren't too crazy about it either...how many laps did the DB's and LBers have to run? Zero....stupid policy

If you allow them to be above the law, then it can create animosity as well. Especially, hired guns who have not played a down yet.

When Brady screws up, he takes a lap. It is leading by example.

which goes right back to NIGHTSTALKER's original idea with this thread bro; I don't want the Jets to try and be the Pats anymore-or the Parcells' led team at the moment-we're not. Also, when a guy with multiple SB rings on his hand decrees that you take a lap, it has a lot more weight than when some pudgy wanna-be does it.

This thread I feel is misleading. We did NOT exactly mirror the Patzies. Our sucess would have been much greater had we actually cheated like the Pats. Sadly we'll never know how good we actually could have been. :P

and you had a HofF QB...no HofF QB=no playoffs...funny how that works

No.

Drew was a decent QB. He would have been good for 9-11 wins every year maybe more with that defense and then probably throw that agonizingly life sucking INT at the most in opportune time.
