I know we suck now. But we do have some expendable guys. Especially linebackers if we are going to sign one.

well thats just it, if they are expendable what would you get for em. lewis is most likely to resign with balt. but you never know. same with dawkins they are both older...but could you image having them as catalysts firing the d and the crowd up...

we have ZERO shot at a decent Free agent unless favre retires IMHO

Doesn't cutting Farve give you 1-2 mil in cap space?

Plus you have to allocate money for the rookie pool.

Any NLTBE money that was earned?

http://www.nyjetscap.com/salary.html

using that site I can see roughly $22,271,187.00 freeing up on the cap, not including Current Estimated Cap Space: $16,584,125.00

we can cut a few guys and have a ton of room under the cap

the guys i got the 22 from were Favre (if he retires) , Brandon Moore , David Barrett , Bryan Thomas

in accounting, parenthesis mean negative. so right now, we're (16,584,125). that means, negative 16.6 million. we are NOT in a surplus. see my thread on the cap cuts...

That was pretty quick... you were able to find a kid that was smitten with you to analyze the Jets cap situation that quickly? I'm impressed. :P

What it should mean and what it means are two different things.

The page estimates the cap at 123. It says the Jets are at 123. The active roster (i.e. Top 51) has a cap value of 136+ million. Then it lists another 3+ in dead money. Add those two numbers together and you are 16+ million over the cap.

Didnt feel like answering it for the 174th time? lol

Which is why there should be a thread for it and no have it posted on the 3rd page of some random JI bashing thread. I figured he would have it on copy and paste since he has answered it before and it known for that kind of stuff.

That's right. It's a cap penalty of 3 million for cutting Chad Pennington that counts against the cap in 2009. I notice this kind of thing because Miami is still paying Culpepper money.

Brandon Moore had a GREAT season. Under Callahan he was very solid. He is not getting cut.

I agree to cut david barrett. hes been my least favorite jet as long as he's been on the team...but Brandon Moore??? he was amazing this year. No way is he getting let go. You can make a case that he was the second best lineman for the jets this year behind faneca.

Absolutely. He is still only 28 and being a converted d-lineman, he could still get even better. And you would not want to disrupt the continuity of that starting 5. No way he gets cut, even if it saves $5 million.

Yup.

And after Chad gets his extension you'll have some of that dead Chad cap money laying around in 2010 and 2011. For us it was 5 full seasons worth of it..
