joebabyny
Ok, first of all, this is 100% a story I got straight from the source, not a friend of a friend or anything like that. A guy I know who is a close friend of the family has had Giant season tix up top since the day they opened in 76. He gets a call the other day from a salesman for the psl's. Now, keep in mind that Giants fans are 100% entitled to their seat wherever they are in the stadium regardless of their tenure. Anyway, the guy admits that the seats are not selling as well as they had hoped and that between 50-75% of the people in the lower sections are NOT renewing and buying the psl. Also said that when they go to the waitlist it is the same story, massive amounts of people turning it down. Then the guy gave him a crazy offer. Said for an additional 250 bucks above his upper level psl he can grab a psl in the mez, and for an additional 500 bucks he could grab a psl in the lowers. This is far far far far less then the official psl price. I can't even believe it.

SMC
If the Giants are having this hard a time selling their PSLs, imagine how tough it must be for us. When Microsoft announces today that they're laying off 5,000 workers, you know the economy is in real ****ty shape. This is a real bad time to sell a luxury item like a PSL. Yes, season tickets have been in families for generations, but just like people are foregoing buying the new car, TV, or vacation, people are not buying PSLs. Plus, what is really hurting them is that businesses are in bad shape. If it was just individuals, the teams would be selling the season to corporations, but even the corporations are now trying to be frugal.

jetophile
I still haven't gotten anything in writing from the JETS FO and neither have any of us. I've been saying it all along. How can anyone 'decide' about anything when Jets season ticket holders don't have a physical piece of paper in their hands? Mara's brethren can eat a bullet for all I care, but this is going to turn into the worst stadium venture in sports history. Don't surprised if the Jets PSL's wind up costing more - because, hell, we deserve it!

Expect the Jets are going to do something similar to this. All of these NY area sports franchises assumed the economy was a straight upward line, and that is not happening. Ynaks and Mets are having HUGE problems selling luxury boxes and high end tickets because the prices they're charging are beyond ridiculous. Remember the Jets haven't actually demanded any check yet, Plans can get amended.

I didn`t say the JETS should not charge a PSL at all, what I am saying if we are having to share the stadium with the Giants ,then everything should be 50/50 so I shouldn`t be paying Double for the exact same seat as a Giant fan my bill should also be $5,000 per ticket for that seat ,not $10,000 , espescially when the Giants are putting a better product out.that is my arguement

shawn306
Just keep saying NO. At some point both teams are going to have to make a decision. There is no way that the Jets or Giants want the upper bowl full and the lower tier half full. Just keep saying NO to the PSL.

What they are doing is offering an additional 5 years to pay it off - WITH INTEREST. What a generous owner we have...

Just went to the new stadium site, there used to be a calculator, now it is a graphic that gives the 5 and 15 year breakdown. The funny thing is, now that it is all laid out with the 5 and 15 year numbers next to each other, you can see that stretching from 60 monthly payments to 180 monthly payments only HALVES the payment, that is a lot of extra coin in interest! Here is a post i made a while ago in another thread where i ran some numbers on the 15 year financing option.... Well, on the jets new stadium site they have a loan calculator with 5 years at 6.5% and 15 years at 8%. Anyone who takes 4 seats at 15,000 per has to come up with 12,000 in 30 days then 15 annual installments of 5,608. So that 15,000 psl for 4 seats really comes out to 96,120 or 24,030 per seat. \

SMC
This is a real tought economy for individuals AND corporations. Corporations can't bail the Jets and Giants out and buy up these PSLs because they're more worried about staying afloat. It's the failure of these corporations to buy these PSLs that's causing the Jets and Giants to resort to plan B.

serphnx
So since the PSL means you own the seat, does that mean you can come in and kick a Giants fan out during a Giants game, or vice versa? Why not just jack up the prices of the tickets themselves, I mean that's what this is right? Why even pay your marketing people for such a transparent ploy? I hope nobody buys these things and these games get blacked out. I know it won't come to that because the NFL will step in. But I think that would just be hilarious. Unfortunately thats not the way it will work. If the PSL's dont sell, they will simply put the tix up for sale at face. This is the best case scenario for the brokers.
