Huey Whittaker re-signs with Blaze

July 29th, 2008 @ 4:30pm

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Blaze head coach Ron James announced Tuesday the re-signing of All-Arena First Team selection WR HUEY WHITTAKER (6-5, 228, South Florida) to a three-year contract.

"Huey Whittaker is a young, dynamic player and has the ability to change the game," James said. "He had tremendous production for us last season, and we are looking forward to more of the same over the next three years."

Whittaker was one of three Blaze receivers to record more than 1,500 yards receiving in 2008. He led the team in yards with 1,541 and was second in catches and touchdowns with 126 and 32, respectively.

Whittaker recorded 11 or more catches in a game five times in 2008, and had 100 receiving yards or more seven times - including four straight games. His best game of the year came April 25 when he tallied a franchise-record 20 catches for 208 yards against the New Orleans VooDoo.

Along with being named to the All-Arena First Team, Whittaker was also named to the ESPN.com All-AFL First Team

i doubt Huey Whittaker will make the team

herron is an interesting signing

Herron was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round (244th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Green Bay Packers

He was signed off of the Steelers' practice squad by the Green Bay Packers. In his rookie season he rushed for 123 yards on 48 attempts for a 2.6-yard average and two touchdowns. Following the season, the Packers kept him as a third string back behind Ahman Green and Vernand Morency. In his second season, Herron rushed for 150 yards on 37 attempts for a 4.1-yard average to go with 29 receptions for 211 yards and three total touchdowns.

In the 2007 season, Herron was expected to compete with Morency and Brandon Jackson for the starting running back position. However, he was placed on Injured reserve with a sprained knee on September 2, ending his season.

Noah returned to the Packers during the 2008 training camp but was released on August 30 during final cuts.

[edit] Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Herron was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 19, 2008 after running back Earnest Graham was placed on injured reserve. He was released on December 17, 2008.

Not sure how hes been doing but Ive been wondering for a while now. Hes that tall, deep receiver that the jets need. I heard he plays like Plax which would be nice if he can develop into that kind of player
