He doesnt have a favorite team because they dont give a crap about him?

:rl:

I'd ask to see his man-card.

well...he has the mentality like, "why should i devote my life to some sports team and get all pissed off when they lose like you do, erika? why do you care so much about the jets? they get paid millions of dollars a year...do you really think they give a **** about you?"

ah, whatever. besides, i don't think i could date a football fan. i've tried before. it sucks. if we're both jets fans, we'll be miserable together...which sucks. if he's something other than the jets, we'll argue a lot...which sucks. if he doesn't care about a particular team, he helps me get my mind off of things when the jets lose. sexy time! :D

May I ask... is he an intelligent fellow? Likes books and stuff?

Because usually when a guy has high intelligence, sports is meaningless and stupid.

i would say so...he's more into music than anything...but he's an athlete. he plays football, tennis, golf, basketball...you name it, he plays it.

He sounds gay and lame. Dump him for a guy who posts on internet message boards a lot. Much more exciting and manly.:bag:

Only thing I have a problem with is the "they don't care about me so why should I care about them...and also they're rich" (in so many words) is one of the dumber things I've heard recently. Something only a selfish child, teeming with jealousy about what others have that he does not, would say.

If he said he just didn't like the sport then at least he's an adult man. A gay man, but a man nonetheless.

I divorced my husband cause he was a giant fan...lol....j/k...although I did date a straight guy who didnt follow it at all....that didnt last very long...NOW I don't date during football season.....:vactiontime:

This guy is straight but doesnt like football at all. If I am still seeing him by next season I think it could be a problem. I think the no dating during football season may be in order for me too.

well, he certainly isn't jealous or selfish...i guess being extremely devoted to a football team isn't his thing.

its funny that people would even care enough to talk about such a subject. i mean, you really care whether or not someone else watches something???

i mean, i could understand if you said you thought people who didn't like playing it, but you are honestly saying that people are not "manly" because they don't sit on a couch and watch something on tv? or even in the stands?

either way, hockey is more manly than football anyways.

No, straight guys that dont follow the NFL? It seems so odd to me...

WHy?

Is there a rule that says that all straight men HAVE to like football?

Football is just another sport. Some people like it some people dont. What is so odd about that? And the rest of you backing up this thread with these ridiculous arguments are weirdos as well.

Im from NY, and here Basketball is bigger than football. Football isnt pushed that much in high school in the city as much as basketball is. So a lot of youth growing up in the city are apathetic towards football. Still your argument about straight men not liking football being odd is weak. Football isnt the end all of Sports. Lets not forget America is a countrey of immigrants as well, most of the foriegn born people like other Sports.

Well, in all reality all sports are irrelevant. The nfl is irrelevant to most of the world, but people still like it.

either way, i wasn't talking about watching the sport. i was talking about playing it.

who bases someones manliness on what they watch on television.

go be a lumberjack or build a house or something if you want to be manly. im not thinking about manliness when i want to watch football. and, now that i think about it, its kinda weird that anyone would.

I personally am happy that my girlfriend isn't into sports at all. I would honestly hate that. I don't like to watch games with anyone really, why would I want her sitting there bugging me when I am trying to pay attention?

My older brother doesn't watch football. He used to be a Chiefs fan back in the day, but then he just gave it up one year. And judging by the huge stash of porn I found on his floppy disks (and copied for myself) back then, he's not gay either.

I think some people are taking the commentary in this thread literally and seriously. C'mon - it's all for amusement.

Gee ya think

Bottom line to each his own - I love to watch sports thats who I am - You don't fine thats who you are -- no poop off my ass either way -

It is really not that uncommon. In fact, I think this is a good time for me to confess that I really don't like football that much and have only pretended to be a Jets fan for the last 40+ years to gain acceptance. It hasn't been working, so I'll give it a few more years and then maybe move on to figure skating. ;)
