Mike Furrey Released

Mike Furrey would be a perfect slot guy for us...I've wanted this kid for a couple of years now-we NEED a tough little white guy since Chrebet retired

He had his chance, he walked out on us. he got what he deserved in detroit going winless. Hopefully he goes to another crappy team.

wait wait wait-WHEN did Mike Furrey ever walk out on the New York Jets? He's been a Lion his whole career and was (like Chrebet) undrafted...he caught 98 passes in 2006...he's 6' tall too-we NEED this guy

He was w/ us in training camp 2002 I believe and was going to make the team but he walked out and went back to play in the Arena League.

Oh and he was a Ram before he was a Lion.

yea I didn't see his Rams stat line ny...hey if he came in for a cup of coffee in 2002 remember Chrebet was here and no WAY another undrafted FA was going to unseat a guy who was establishing himself as the modern day prototype slot receiver

I don't remember that he was going to make the team. Herm liked Jonathan Carter & Kevin Swayne.

Agree though, that the last thing the Jets need is another 32 year-old possession WR with a concussion history.

I wasn't talking about him as a #1 receiver neck I'm talking about the guy in the Chrebet/Welker role. I agree we could use a #1 WR-Coles ain't the guy and Cotchery hasn't shown himself to be that guy either-at least not with the QB's we've been using since he got here.

yeah but we already have guys to fill that role. my point was that if we pick up a receiver it has to be a #1 type. we don't need to waste any money on a slot/possession guy. we already have that on our roster. and that's no tincluding keller who has the size and speed to create mismatches in that role also.

1) Mike furrey is not Wes Welker or Wayne Chrebet. The only thing he shares in common with those two is that he's a white possession receiver. He's had 1 good season and the rest have been crap. The last two seasons have been well under league average.

2) ALL of our receivers are possession guys. You don't need another one, what you need is #1 potential guy like Neckdemon is saying.

maybe he didnt like Herm... who the hell knows... who the hell cares... if he can play... you sign him... if he cant... you dont... its pretty simple...
