GimmeShelter
Holliday's success in lots of circles has been pegged as a product of playing in Coors Field. MLB Trade Rumors did some research and came away with some numbers that may prove otherwise at least in Holliday's case.
The Troll
He'll still be good, but he will never again approach MVP-type numbers. He's going from Coors to an extreme pitcher's park.

True...with no protection in the line-up.
Morrissey
Holliday is going to get a chance this year in Oakland to prove all that wrong. If he does, I hope he'll be in LF for the Yankees.
Scott Dierking
Coors does not help hitters in power now, as it did on the past, but it does help in terms of gap size as well as having a huge outfield. You don't see as many "pinball" type of games as you used to, but you better have speed in your outfield to cover the gaps.

The Sox will be hot for him too. Especially if they don't lock up Bay.
Sharrow
The Yankees need to sign Manny, then they can sign Holliday next year when they get rid of Matsui, Damon, and Nady. Then they can sign Bay to play center and Vlad to play right and put Manny at DH.
Morrissey
The Sox will be hot for him too. Especially if they don't lock up Bay. I'm about 95% postive that they will sign Bay to an extension, if they don't, than the Yankees have 2 options. But you can guarantee the Yankees will go after one of them next off season. We have 3 outfielders coming off the books after this season. Someone needs to play out there for us. Matsui- $13 million Damon- $13 million Nady- $6.55 million Total- $32.55 million That's a lot of dough. Hopefully Austin Jackson takes another step this year, or Brett Gardner's talent translates to the majors, so we we don't have to worry about CF, but it would be nice, to slot Holliday in LF, Jackson CF, Swisher RF in 2010. Just because you free up the money doesn't mean you have to spend it. Let's see how Holliday does in the AL and how Bay does for a full year (and how Lowell and Papi bounce back). That will determine what the Sox do next offseason. Right now, Varitek just needs to take his wounds like a man and take the deal so we can move on to spring training. MagicBizkit87
Just because you free up the money doesn't mean you have to spend it. This is the Yankees though. If they free up money, and Holliday has an excellent year in Oakland, he will be wearing Pinstripes next season. It's either him, or Crawford, with Damon's contract coming to an end, it might be for the better for the Yankees to sign Crawford to be the next leadoff man. Rays have a $10 million team option with Carl Crawford for 2010. They'll probably pick that up. and if you don't like Johnny Damons arm in LF, he defiantly won't like Crawford's. The 3 options for the Yankees would be: Rick Ankiel Jason Bay Matt Holliday

AdropOFvenom
Not to delay the Yankee circle jerk too much, but I'm hopeful the Mets see him as their future clean-up hitter (Replacing Delgado), provided he has a good year in Oakland of course. Then you have Murphy slide over to 1st base, which is probably where he belongs anyways. All I'm saying is to expect some fierce competition. SS - Reyes 1B - Murphy 3B - Wright LF - Holliday CF - Beltran RF - Church / F-Mart 2B - (Hopefully upgrade) Castillo? C - (Hopefully upgrade) Schneider?
