Does anyone still use AOL to log on to the web?

My mom LOVES AOL and refuses to use Modzilla to get onto the web.. so i always crack on her and tell her she is the only one in the world that still uses it. like i still use my screen name for Email and stuff but i go on aol.com to look at it.

they had the market cornered for a while didn't they? I didn't even know they were still around

They were HUGE! Back in the mid 90's when most people had never heard of the world wide web they had over 30 million subscribers and now that the whole world is on the web they have around 7 million. Their value has gone from 240 billion to under 20 billion The lack of capacity for their huge growth and the feet dragging in letting members access the open internet really were their demise.

I started to use it when it first came out. Then I started getting some error on pages when I'd use the backwards button, have you gotten that, if so has it been fixed?

No problems here...

For whatever it's worth, it's out of beta now so it's probably much more stable than when you first used it.

I still have a free AOL account even though I have a Verizon FIOS hookup with email. It's jsut what I've always used. Not scientific but my business makes me get everyone customer's email address. Seems the younger you are the more likely you have hotmail or gmail or something more current. But older people like me (35 and up) who like me are too lazy to change their business cards and buddy lists probably are more likely to use AOL. Though I doubt anyone is paying for it any more. In fact when I got FIOS part of the sell was easy interfacing wit AOL,and that's proven to be true.

Basically anyone that had the internet 12 years or so ago had AOL... I started with 3.0 on windows 3.1

People who use Gmail and other services just like the newest and best thing... its easy enough to switch and keep AOL mail coming as well...

As for Buddy Lists... I didnt even realize people used instant messaging after high school... (sorry War E I know you stopped in middle school... lol)

Maybe I am the one thats out of the loop.. #-o

With texting IM went the way of the dinosaur. Don't like either, but there are people who spend every day with their thumbs going 100 MPH all day.
