Dallas Stars 10 NY Rangers 2

What's worse-offensively they did less than that. Z's 2 goals were freaky, both from behind the goalline. They need Avery or something in the worst way. To all you "chemistry" guys-the Rangers never stop cooing about what a great group of guys they have, but that isn't winning anything. Also Renney seems to like playing his 4th line more than his 1st. It's all fine and good to be defense first, but when it goes to ___, doesn't mean much at all if you cannot force the other team to play some defense. Even with shots being even, seems like most games get played in the Rangers' end anyway as if it's tilted. Add in an off night by the backup goalie, and there you go.

And half of their defense has decided checking is not part of their job. Rangers could have the worst defense in the NHL. Rosival, Redden and Kalinin are all old, slow, nonphysical and collecting huge paychecks. The other 3 decent guys -Staal, Mara and Girardi-are stuck having to worry about the incompetnet old guy playing opposite most nights rather than being able to jump into the offense. Staal looks like if he had a big, nasty, stay at home Jeff Beukeboom-type next to him he could be a star. Redden at one time could run a power play, but he got old fast. Sather must've been really drunk when he signed all 3 on July 1.

Half our defense sucks. Rosival, Redden, and Kalinin can't hold the line on the powerplay for ****. It's no wonder the opposing team gets so many shorthanded goals--these three can't keep the puck inside the blue line. We've given up so many goals because Redden, etc just lose the puck way too easily. Redden was a terrible signing.

We have to get Avery as soon as possible. Who cares about chemistry when the team sucks? At least he'll bring some fire into the clubhouse. I also wouldn't be opposed to getting Chris Neil. We should've signed Shanny, but I'm not too familiar with the NHL's salary cap...
