Jets interested in Bulger?

Now what? In terms of experience and production, the Jets suffered perhaps the biggest single-day dropoff at one position in NFL history, going from Brett Favre to The Three Standbys - Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge. Favre's retirement Wednesday left a crater-sized hole in the lineup - one veteran player, speaking anonymously, ripped management for the current plight - but GM Mike Tannenbaum and new coach Rex Ryan did their best to sell the potential upside of the three young quarterbacks. Keep an eye on the Rams' Marc Bulger, a potential salary-cap casualty. He's a player who would interest the Jets.

Marc Bulger would be a welcomed addition to this team.

I don't see how anyone couldn't like him. When he was actually protected, he played very well with an injury proned Running Back and one very good, and nothing else at the position, Wide Receiver.

And I'm sure that veteran was none other than Big Mouth Laveranues.

If we get a wind like we have today, Bulger's ball will go backward.

Maybe it's a trait to have a rag arm if you went to college in WV?

A few years ago he was a VERY good QB. He is though and always had been basically made of glass. His injuries have piled up and he looks like nothing but a shadow of his former self. Play behind the dreadful Rams offensive line has not helped his cause. I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him, especially if we could get him cheap. It would be a very low risk/high reward move. I've really always wanted to see what he could accomplish with an offensive line that gives him more than half a second to throw the ball.

UGH, last resort> maybe if BR & KC play like rotted corpses. Ainge is certainly no prodigal.

Bulger would only be allowed to be a JET in my book if, and only if, he is willing to accept a pay cut and a reality check!

He would be signed as a cut veteran... Im assuming 2 mill per would get it done... why not... he would be a good vet to have in the mix... not saying he SHOULD start... just saying he would be a good Patrick Ramsey for lack of better words... lol

Marc Bulger is still a very good QB in this league, I don't understand how some of you would be against bringing him / some of you (ecurb) comparing him to Patrick f'ing Ramsey. The guy doesn't have the dominate Orlando Pace protecting his blind side anymore as Pace has been a shell of his former self when he's actually been healthy enough to stay on the field. Him being hurt led to Bulger being hurt. Steven Jackson is always hurt as well.

Bulger is still in the Top 15 at the Quarterback position.

The legend lives on....

In terms of experience and production, the Jets suffered perhaps the biggest single-day dropoff at one position in NFL history, going from Brett Favre to The Three Standbys - Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge.

The Three Standbys > 40 year old Brett Favre

I'd be a lot happier finding our own, new Marc Bulger, instead of signing the old one.

Considering what's out there if we could get Bulger for a good price I'd be happy. We need a QB that can at least play in the NFL we're not sure if Rat or KC can but we know Bulger can play even if he's a JAG. He's been crap over the last few years but he's had a few good ones as well, maybe a change will help him out.

You know I like Bulger but hes been injured pretty much every year.

Thats what happens when your star Offensive Tackle gets old and injured himelf and the entire Offensive Line, which protects the Quarterback, is in shambles because of it.

Bulger, hmmm, I remember him inheriting the greatest show on turf from Warner but was never as good as Warner thus falling short, but he did have DECENT years there, who wouldn't?

Then he's been a journeyman.

Did they say he'd be a salary cap casuality?, no thanks, if he's cheap, sure, but only to join the competition. Not to be annointed.

I'm hoping Clemens or Rat can be great, and I would be dissappointed if they were simply "Bulger-like".

Yes, bring Bulger in... 2006 was his last good year, for 2007 and 2008 Bulger has been in decline, throwing more int's than TD's.

I would welcome Bulger to the Jets

and he only had a few "good" years before that, with a dynamic offense, when i say "good", I mean, 22TD's 22 INT's.(2003)

His whole career is like Favre minus 1,000. I'm not thrilled.

I would not mind bringing in Bulger as part of the competition- he has proven he can win in the NFL - give him a decent line to work with again.

If the new stadium was going to be a dome, I'd be a lot more interested. A dome QB showing signs of decline throwing the ball in the meadowlands? I really don't think so.

You're kidding, right?

He "inherited" the Greatest Show On Turf (what a bunch of crap). Where was Ricky Prohel? Where was Az-Hakim? Did Issac Bruce remain in his late 20's? I missed where scientistis kept him at that age. Did he "inherit" the great Orlando Pace? No, he inherted a Bruce & Pace, shell of their former selves, a banged up Marshall Faulk and an injury proned, fumbling machine in Steven Jackson. But he had Tory Holt, so he should've been awesome.

How about producing his 2004-2006 numbers if you want to talk about his 2003 numbers? The last two years he's been on garbage teams with complete garbage lines. Anyone watching knows that, and I'm sure you do.

2004: 321-485 (66.2%), 3964yds, 21 TD, 14 INT

2005: 192-287 (66.9%), 2297yds, 14 TD, 9 INT

2006: 370-588 (62.9%), 4301yds, 24 TD, 8 INT

Another guy who can be depended upon to throw key INTs, though.

Those of you saying LC is the veteran make no sense.

So LC was a "whiny bitch" when Favre came to the Jets...now he's a "whiny bitch" for Favre leaving?

Do any of you realize what you're saying sometimes?

Do you realize what you're saying? It isn't about Favre leaving, the player could care less about that, its about how Tannebaum and Woody have handled the team the past year at the Quarterback position and not having a veteran back-up in house in case Favre were to retire.
