So do any of you listen to this show on XM/Sirius? I never was much of a talk radio guy (can't stand Stern) but this show really pulled me in. The guy is a former professional skater and is now getting into MMA. Freakin' hilarious show with his Dude is it gay? and Dude am I a slut? bits. If you have Sirius or XM, check him out on Faction. RED DRAGONS!!

Not that I give a **** about his show anymore but I wonder if Howard will be forced to return to evil terrestrial radio?

Would your boy Ellis's show translate well to public radio?

I think it would be hilarious if Howard had to go crawling back. As far as Ellis, I'm not sure he could make the transition. I liken it a little to the Stern show although it seems to be hipper.

Well, I don't think sat radio is going anywhere. It is gonna be like iridium, the sat phone company. I think I mentioned this in a thread years ago. Iridium is a service that set up phones using satellites so that you could get reception anywhere in the world, the most remote jungles or in the middle of the ocean. It was a great idea and there was definitely a niche market, but the problem was there were nowhere near enough subscribers using enough minutes to justify the cost of putting those birds in the sky, and they went bankrupt. Someone swept in and bought the equipment for pennies on the dollar, in effect letting him operate the company at a fraction of the cost of what the original company paid to start it up, and with those much lower startup costs the service was able to survive. If the echostar guy comes out with the company, he will be able to own the infrastructure at a reduced cost and there is no way he takes sirius/xm's greatest asset, its subscriber base, and tosses them in the garbage by ending the service.

As for Howard, at this point I am sure he has enough money for a lifetime and his children's children's lifetime, so i doesn't need to go anywhere. I doubt he would do that. If anything if sat radio went away and he wanted to go back, I would think he would just make his own studio, produce his own show, and sell it to whatever stations wanted to pick up the feed. That is if he wants to keep working, which he probably may not. One thing is for sure, his departure from terrestrial radio has left a wasteland of former powerhouse companies, he would have job offers naming his price, probably a good deal more than his sirius gig.
