If Coles is cut, how about Curry as possesion type guy?

RAIDERS TO RELEASE RONALD

Posted by Mike Florio on February 18, 2009, 10:46 a.m.

The Oakland Raiders will soon be parting ways with one of the only wideouts on the roster with any significant experience.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the Raiders are expected to release receiver Ronald Curry.

Per NFLPA records, Curry was signed through 2011, at a base salary of $3.5 million this year. Per Schefter, the net cap savings will be $2.3 million.

Didn't do much at all this season but did very well in 2006 and 2007. Its hard to do well at all in Oakland and wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in here. He could definitely fill Coles' role and for a cheaper price tag.

he didnt suck 2 years befor elast,,and last was a disater in raiders,,who knows how much his fault or new coach..

he was damn good in 2006/7...damn good

He has started 32 games in 7 seasons... Thats barely 1/4 of the games...

He has never started all 16 games... the most was 13.... he has only even played in all 16 games 3 times...

In the years you point out 06/07 he had 5 TDs total (1 in 06 / 4 in 07) He had 6 in 04' so that would have been a better year to point out... then he had 12 yards total in 05'...

13 TDs in his areer and just over 2,000 yards in 7 seasons...

Pass.

Ronald Curry > Laveranues Coles. (at this point in their careers)

But hey, we'll keep the whining little **** and pay him his $5 or 6 million so he can drop some more balls and cry about Pennington being released.

Can't wait. I'm siked.

What do you not get about the fact we're forced to pay him that money either way? Cutting him makes no sense. If you can find someone who wants to trade for him and give him the new deal he's going to want, great. Otherwise try to understand we're stuck with him.

We are not stuck with him, try to understand that.

Either way we are giving him his $5 million whether its by keeping him, releasing him or trading him. He is a locker room cancer, it is worth the release.

He was just recently a team captain... lol... some people just dont lose well... it will happen... you cant expect a team that just keeps losing to keep quite...

Says the guy with Vick at the top of his offseason wish list

Wish you where the GM, you could trade Coles straight up for Vicks contract rights and get this team a real leader

You keep it in house, you don't come crying to the media like he ALWAYS does, win or lose.

We should've never traded back for him. We should've known after he left for a couple more million (it was literally $1 million more a season) to Washington that he was a scumbag that didn't care about anybody but himself.

Because, you know, Vick wasn't loved by his teammates or organization before the Pitbull incident.

Fail. :rl:

They didnt like him... they wanted to look into trading him away... he was a coach killer... and made WRs look like ****...

i have no idea what that means,,in 06/07 curry performed well with good yds per catch..

he doesnt relaly drop like cole ha sbeen doing and like mcariens did..

he is solid,,just have to see if 08 was attitude/coaches et cetc..

he is not a speed TD maker,,he is a possesion reciver wit hdecent stregth abd build..plus he is a backup qb if needed (haha,, we need more)

he is a good kid,,i know him,,JGBs roomed in same suite with him for a year...

i am not making him out to be great,,but a cheaper coles,,i dont see player thru fantasy football eyes, but can they catch and get team in postion for somebody to get a TD...

anyone better to replace coles will be more expensive ofr unproven like a rookie..

but hey,, what do i know..i am not i nany fantasy leagues so i cant know the game :D

Thats why I picked a few guys who sucked in fantasy football to compare... they are all better but thought of as 2nd WRs at best... JMAC is thought of as garbage around here and he has been better...

well i disagree..

curry when helathy is close to a #1..

but he has been injury ridden,,which would scare me for sure..

plus i might get tickets for the games :D

This team needs a #1... Curry is not that guy... no way... he is not even better than Cotch... that would make him the #3 guy... how much is he going to require contract wise... most likely wouldnt make sense...

He will absolutely not be released. No NFL GM would see that as "worth it." That's absurd.

He's a very solid player who's the furthest thing from a locker room cancer. His teammates love him. And they love him for a lot of the things that you and too many other Jet fans don't: He's willing to speak his mind.

He wears his heart on his sleeve. He talks too much for some, but he brings it every Sunday. I'd take 53 of him on my team.

You keep it in house, you don't come crying to the media like he ALWAYS does, win or lose.

As opposed to every other NFL player, who sacrifice themselves and their families' welfare for the good of the team, right? Give me a break.

NFL players have the shortest careers of any major sport, and have none of the salary guarantees that baseball and basketball players enjoy. I don't begrudge Coles or any other NFL player doing everything they can to get everything they can. Because if they're not worth it, they don't get it. Players outperform their contracts all the time, but the minute they underperform, they're cut. It's a sh!tty business, with the players getting the short end of the stick every time.
