Elam is a PERFECT situational guy... I hope they keep him around to back up whoever they get...

I don't see why they wouldn't. He's an excellent spot starter/ #1 reserve type player, just like Tyrone Carter who has done quite well in Pittsburgh since we let him leave after the 2004 or 2005 (I forget which) season.

Well he is a RFA... not sure what the timeline needs to be... but hopefully they get a deal done soon...

They only need to work out a deal if somebody tries to pursue him. If someone does sign him, we get a draft pick, not sure what round, in return.

So he has a deal for this year then? Or is he a FA that we have first dibs on?

In that case... what pick would we get? lol I might want the pick...

Depends what tender they slap on him. They havn't done that yet, or so I believe.

The Saints just slapped a 2nd round tender on WR Lance Moore so he will make $1.5 million this season with NO if nobody comes out and signs him to a deal that the Saints arn't willing to match.

I would do cartwheels if they got a 2nd rounder for him.... lol.... would jump up and down for a 3rd...

He was undrafted, so if they slap the low level tender on him (tender levels are: low - round they were drafted, 2nd round , 1st round and 1st+3rd), then all we get is right of 1st refusal. I doubt we slap any of the other levels on him as the price tag goes up.
