SMC
Good (or bad) stuff, Shawn. It all starts with crappy drafts. We can talk about curses and SOJ fiascos during the season, but it all starts with the draft. The Jets have done a poor job for decades, up until Tangini. Yes, Parcells was a bad drafter. Just look at his drafts. Tannenbaum has been the one to draft legitimate talent. But, the failure to hit big time on top 10 talent may haunt him. It killed Bradway with DShrimp's failure. While DBrick is solid, you'd hope for HOF with the 4th overall. It's still a chance. And with Gholston? Who knows. I tell you what, if both DBrick & Gholston turn out to be great players (for the Jets and not any other team), then Jets will be in good shape for a long time. You HAVE to draft well year in and year out. The stuff I posted were the real catastrophes the Jets have had but in reality the Jets have not (Except when Walt Michaels was here) done well in the draft. You cannot sit there year in and year out with 7,8,10 picks and hit on only 1 of them every year which for the better part of the last 20 years the Jets have done. I mean this team had 4 1st round picks in 2000 and STILL couldn't build a championship team.

You need to have some kind of coherent philosophy as to how to use high-leverage assets like top six picks. Take D'Brick if you want to miss small. Take Gholston if you want to hit big. Take both if you have no plan and you don't care who knows it because everybody in Radio City is going to be laughing at you anyway.

Nugent is obviously just universally stupid, but look at the others. Height and character were the issues for Miller coming out, but socking that broad aside, the reason he failed is that he simply can't cover at all. Pouha's issue was his age, but our having signed him to a second contract moots that; again, the guy just can't play. Maddox slipped because he'd had hamstring problems; his knee blew up instead. Houston's thyroid was kind of a debacle, but we're down to the sixth round now. Dreessen is still playing somewhere and even Williams was steadily employed until he broke his neck. Of course it's still on management when a pick bombs, but this just seems different to me than, say, the Titans picking Young even though everybody knew perfectly well that he was an immature retard only to have him fail for exactly that reason. Aten
People are in denial about how bad Rhodes was this past season... Rhodes was overrated even before this season. The situational splits on his 'big plays' - home/road, ahead/behind, good team/bad team - have always been more K-Rhod than Hollywood.

SoFlaJets
Are you dissin NUU Faaola, man? the reason I didn't include those drafts LM was b/c I had moved down here right around that time and as you may well remember being a transplant yourself there wasn't much in terms of information to get ABOUT the Jets back then. I used to have to buy day old NY papers to read about the games-there was no NFL network or even much ESPN other than Berman's Gameday stuff....so this thread should be from say 1995 to now. Maybe I should change thread title to Worst Jets Draft in the last 15 years or so...or at least in the Internet age, which we began at just about the same time-late 90's on the old Rivals boards and then Matt56's boards
