124
Couldn't have said it any better. We should of kept Bowens and got rid of BT though. Then drafted a back-up lb in the later rounds of the draft. That would be the smart thing to do, we are the Jets, there is no way we can make smart decisions like that. Get with the program brotha. ECURB
I thought Bryan Thomas would amount to mostly dead cap space if released? Yeah but let them cry... they dont want to be proved wrong... they want to think they are brilliant and should be running the jets... The JETS would save 550,000 if they cut BT... 124
I thought Bryan Thomas would amount to mostly dead cap space if released? I don't care if he only saves $.01 he is a waste of space. We are $27 million under I'd be shocked if we used all of it. A rookie could make that and far out perform as the BACK-UP to Vernon Gholston. I HATE that you think every single move the organization makes is AWESOME until you don't like the coach. In two years if Ryan sucks, I'm going to bash your head into a brick wall. Edited February 22, 2009 by

war ensemble
As big a bust as Thomas is, he's at least decent. The chances of signing a player for under 550,000 a year that would outperform Thomas are incredibly slim. That move wouldn't make sense. DLJ
Bart Scott please. Say no to Ray Lewis, he's old.

BroadwayJoe12
Bart Scott please. Say no to Ray Lewis, he's old. I can understand the trepidation on signing an aging backer like Lewis, but we know one thing for sure, he will never take a play off. The way I feel it, if his old DC and assistant DC think he's got some years left, than I'm sure he's got some years left. I'm not saying im a proponent of it, because i'm fairly indifferent, but if anyone knows what he's got left it's Rex and Mike.
Ghost
People need to stop talking about Lewis as if he doesn't have game. That's someone who will fire this team up.
TheFuture
bart scott is better than lewis. 3 ints>16 ints. lewis' 8 ints last 4 years suck!
AdropOFvenom
I don't get the fascination with Bart Scott....dude has a total of 2.5 Sacks and Zero Interceptions over the last 2 years, and really outside of 2006 has been a marginal player in this league. I'd rather keep Eric Barton then pay Scott the money it would take to acquire him.

Just what you want from an ILB. 10 times better than Barton.

Just what you want from an ILB. 10 times better than Barton. He's never really impressed me in either area when I've watched Baltimore. I mean, sure they stopped the run, but when you have people like Haloti Ngata and Ray Lewis patrolling the middle of the field, I tend to think he was more the beneficiary of other people being as good as they are. Sort of like how most of our run stopping abilities revolved around the greatness of Kris Jenkins. If you ask me, Scott might be the most overrated player in this FA crop. Alk
Wow, both of them? They must have taken one too many lessons from Steinbrenner. You would have thought that Daniel Snyder and Al Davis would have shown everyone in the league how NOT to run an organization but apparantly the Jets were asleep during that class. As if the Pats have not spent their share in FA. Moss, Thomas (also a Raven LB), Dillon, etc. What is wrong with the new HC bringing in one or two of his standout players? Not your best trolling, ALK. We expect more from you.

I was kind of referring to last season too which worked out fantastic for you guys. Moss and Thomas were pretty much the ONLY big $$ FAs that the Patriots have brought in. Dillon came in for peanuts and exceeded expectations by a mile.

So the Jets are much closer to the pats in regards to acquiring FAs than the skins or yanks. Our massive pick ups improved the team. Bad troll. EDIT: Added massive pick up for effect.
