I like to mess around & upgrade the house for as little $$$ as possible.

I bought doors & drawer fronts for my kitchen & got veneer skins for the facing of all cabinets

the doorstyle is staffordshire & a dark colonial stain with chocalate glazing. most impressive doors I could find thru 5 companies sending me samples of their best stuff

I bought rollout kits for 2 base cabinets & ordered special doors

i bought elaborate dentil & crown mold

i got soft closers for all doors

i got hinges to make pull down drawer heads for sponges etc in front of kitchen sink

I got 2 drawer kits with drawer heads & doors for my living room cabinet below the big sony.

I got a bunch of diferent wood pcs and fluted columns, plynth blocks etc and made a totally kicka$$ custom stereo, bluray & dishnet cabinet, with drawers measured for blu ray movies

I gotta learn to post pics cause i'm really thrilled with how it all turned out.

just installed the new stainless appliances & wow, we luv the new kitchen.

the granite tops are a very unique almost slatelike top with a sculptured edging.

took a few weekends but what a fun project cause it gave instant satisfaction with every step.

so what do you guys do for fun?

Congratulations, JW. May I ask what stove/oven set-up you selected? I live in a place with no natural gas lines, so have been cooking on electric flat top since 2001. (I won't use propane because of expense and low BTU.) I miss the quick power and control of gas. Why am I telling you this?

yeah I hear ya borgo. I wish we had gas but we got the ge profile js998 trivection slide in range.

mrs willy likes the convection oven feature & the new ones have lotsa options for cooking ring sizes. built in ge profile advantium microwave above.

if anyone has ss appliances, nothin better to clean them with than good ole wd 40

Let me know how that cooks, JW. I have heard of trivection, but never cooked on one. In a perfect world, I would want a gas range or cook top, and an electric convention oven. Just as gas gives you more control with burners, the electric oven--in my experience--keeps the temp. constant with little or no fluctuation. Again, good luck with your new kitchen. It sounds awesome.
