I need your guys advice, I will be graduating in May and need to choose what to put on my diploma. My school, I dont mind telling you creeps where i go, Carroll College, recently changed its name to Carroll University. I was thinking about putting Carroll University on the diploma, but others want me to put college, cause more people will recognize it. I think University sounds more prestigious, what do you guys think? :-k

I forgot to how to put a poll, otherwise i would :P

Another vote for University.

  • If you apply for a job out of town (where people like me haven't heard of it), that word carries more weight.
  • You'll have many jobs in the future. 10 years from now, the "University" term will be more understood locally. (Although nobody will ask for a copy of your actual diploma).
  • If you want to use University for the above reasons, but are applying for something local NOW, then put "Caroll College" on the resume you send. In youre resume, you can use whatever term you think the employer will prefer to see.

did not know you were a red fox in sheep's clothing:D

It's not exactly the toughest of nicknames, but it could be worse, like the Trojans or C0cks or something. I recently saw someone wearing a HS sweatshirt and the name of the team was the Nimrods!

I'd go with Carroll College. My school changed it's name my sophomore year and I chose to have the original name on my diploma.

University of Lowell as opposed to University of Massachusetts Lowell

I agree with Gainzo so obviously he is a genius. ;)

IMHO if your degree is in a discipline that Carroll College is a leader in then I would stay with College.

Another vote for university. It is the current name of it, and it does have a little more pizang. You can always say 'the college formerly known as' - only don't dress up like Prince on any job interviews to make the point. Drums, cymbal. I'm tired. :bag:

Good luck, Tictac! Congratulations.
