CoachTsurfing
Going to suck them getting another first rounder. Maybe they will get caught cheating again and get their pick taken away. I think it's a mistake for the pats to trade cassell though. Brady isn't going to be around forever.
124
Good pick up for Tampa Bay. Cassel, Winslow, Bryant -- they need to add another WR though for sure.
Alk
ya i think its real, but not down deal yet,,in other words,, one last chance for Kansas City to make a offer. There was a rumor floating around that Vrabel to KC was part of a bigger deal involving Cassel and swapping first round picks with the Chiefs throwing in another pick. Larz
classic agent leak hey chiefs, he's got the contract, and a pen, he's leaning over, getting ready to sign...... if this goes down, the pats* did a good job, but it's a huge gamble

Yeah but it's crazy to try paying Cassel that kind of money only to move him to a starting role when he's over 30 years old.

Alk
Honestly I would have kept Cassel as my starter. I didn't really care either way. We would be fine with either as starter but would have got a whole lot more for Brady.

neckdemon
lol......bill belichick must really owe the devil man. i mean seriously. *****ing brady goes down and they wind up turning their back-up qb, who hasn't started a game dince highschool before thisyear, into a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick the following year because of it. unbelievable. CoachTsurfing
I don't think Brady is going to be the same. It would have been real hard to trade Brady, but you keep Cassel and when the time is right cut Brady. I don't know a lot about their cap situation or how his deal is structed, but Cassel is the real deal. If we didn't have to give the pick to the Pats, I would give up a first for him. Agreed. And what the hell is Tampa doing extending McCown for almost $4M/yr and then giving up a 1st & a 2nd (excuse me, conditional 2nd) and probably at least $15M guaranteed for yet another QB? Larz
Brady at 85% is still a top 2 qb in the league. no the line between all pro and all schmoe is a lot thinner than most fans care to think. first they get weeded out from HS to college they they get weeded out from getting a scholarship to starting in college they they get weeded out at the combine they they get weeded out at camp they they get weeded out in games you're talking 32 guys out of what, 7 billion people ? brady could easily slip to middle of the pack this season I know he's not a running QB, but you also have to factor in rust and timing and hesitancy. will he still have nerves of steel in the pocket with guys at his feet ? dumping the younger healthy guy for the older damaged guy is a gamble, plain and simple I have been saying all along you would keep both, but that's my jets fan complex thinking you would have cassel around to take the reigns from brady, and have 6 more years of quality QB play now you may have 2 more years gamble
CoachTsurfing
they beat us, the 9ers, denver, buff, phins, hawks, and cards. And they almost beat indy. I'd say that is pretty good for a qb that you think isn't that good.

JohnnyLV
ya i think its real, but not down deal yet,,in other words,, one last chance for Kansas City to make a offer. Quite honestly I think that especially at the end Thigpen was as impressive as Cassell and had NO ONE around him, while Cassell was surrounded by an 18-1 team.
