Mike T had me call last year the "best offseason I could ever remember" with the additions of Jenkins, Faneca,Woody and even though I sounded of against the Favre deal, even I, lover of The noodle fell in love with the A-Hole. I thought we had the talent to win. I sensed poor conditioning. ANYWAY, this year, my one beef was that we messed with a dominant O-line that was together one more year and Faneca doesn't have much left so when he pulled his stunt getting Moore back he scored moore points(get it). Now, right off the bat, I see him working again except I think we all feel that giving Rex these guy compared to Mangini is a new ball game, a major upgrade in SCHEME, which Mangini new nothing of. NOW HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS LEFT AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS please give your lists or opinions: 1. QB- obviously- we know we are Clemens/Ratliff divided, but is that good enough?are we comfortable with the "best man" of those two? I think the Rat fans will say yes and the Clemens guys will say yes, and i hope one of us is right, but for the others u got: FreeAgency - any second tier QB you could think of is on this list. The intriguing ones are: 1.Kurt Warner- who's agent say they've talked to a couple teams, he wants to stay in Arizona. 2.Byron Leftwich- could do worse 3.Jeff Garcia- ehhhh the rest we know, trent green, that O'sullivan kid from SF. Draft - not a great class a lot have us taking Sanchez. I think throwing a #17 rookie in the mix and wasting a #1 is dumb. I hope KC or Rat surprise people. wouldn't mind a Leftwich signing. 2.Wide Reciever- Coles gone, but don't forget we got a pretty darn good WR in Cotch(the friggin guy levitates lol)he's a GREAT possesion reciever and playmaker. We need a deep, tall guy, a guy that can get up and get jump balls(especially with a "rook" QB) Draft - I feel we should draft a WR round one. Maclin or Crabtree won't drop, probably, but of course you grab Crabtree! Still got Heyward-Bey-(lam jones?)-great speed, not great tape. Hakeem Nicks (NC) and Percy Harvin(FL) -are option, both fit the speed bill. Nicks had a great year. FA- -Of course TJ -I like Hank Baskett, great size, not a bad three years considering his time here are his stats -anyone inticed by Dreww Bennett?- St Louis-had ONE monster year in 2004,funny, surrounded by crap, but 6'5". L ets hope Cotch,Clowney,Stuckey, Keller, and #17 is enough, but there are a few cheap FA's to bring some experience. 3. Coaching- can Rex be HC, we've seen this. The south FL guys have seen it four times(our last three plus the fins with Cam Camron). His success depends on the biggest CS question mark,Schotty! who is the real Schotty? DMaynard Posted February 28, 2009 Share Posted February 28, 2009 As far as QB is concerned, it is a huge question mark. And I think most Jets fans are not split between Clemens and Ratliff. Most are not comfortable with EITHER. However, like we have said, you just don't pick good/experienced QBs off of a tree. The FA market is weak and the draft prospects are not overwelming. And keep in mind what "blue chippers" like Matt Leinhart and Vince Young are doing. Nothing. And making a lot of money doing nothing. I think the Jets are doing everything they can to strengthen the rest of the team, especially defense. If Clemens or Ratliff turn into the real thing, great. If they don't, then we need to get a QB. I like Thigpen (via Trade), I like Anderson (If the price is right). Could live with Leftwich. No to 1-2 year rentals like Warner or Garcia, and I doubt we draft a QB before seeing what we have internally first. 2 WR - Probably will draft one. 3 Coaching Staff - Seems like we got some good guys, I think moving in the right direction.
