JetGuy21
I know RB is a top priority, but I have been a huge fan of Beanie's in college.. Now that we have shored up CB, ILB, and OG it seems likely that the Jets will draft an offensive play maker with the 17th pick.. Why not Beanie? Thomas Jones has one more year left here by all accounts, and the RB class isn't very good next year. Ryan says this is going to be a running team anyway, and with the way they are spending it looks like they want to win now. QB's and WR's usually take time to develop, and Wells might offer the most during his rookie season.. IMO.. We still have big holes at backup NT, DE, QB, WR However the teams that draft well don't always choose players by need... Wells seems like a safe bet to be the next Larry Johnson.. That isn't bad at all..
Vudu
What's his height/weight? I wouldnt be opposed to a running back if he's a bruiser. We have enough tiny, non pile moving running backs.
New York Mick
If Wells is there at 17 we would almost have to take him but I really don't think he'll drop that far to big and fast. I wouldn't mind getting Jennings in the 3rd, same size as Wells a little bit slower but he's stronger and has good moves for his size.

Barton
Wells has the ability to be the next Fred Taylor, but I dont see it in him.
Bachelors3
It seems to me that, at this point, a WR is of the utmost importance. We have Jericho and a few unproven guys like Chansi Stuckey and David Clowney. Clowney seems good but may be brittle. So, I think the Jets must draft a WR and maybe more than one. They have two 4th Round Picks so maybe one in the first and another in the 4th. And one has to be a game breaker. That's the way I see it after free agency. AdropOFvenom
I'm not a huge Wells fan, I don't think he has much big play potential at the next level. Probably has a decent career being a move the chains pounder, but is that really what we need? Plus, he hasn't been very durable. Lets put it this way, is he really much better then someone like Shonn Greene available a round or two later? I'm not sure I see it.
PS17
If he fell to us, I would like very much if they took him. Then, they could go WR in round 2.

History has shown that so many really good RB's are found AFTER the 1st round. Since it's not a high need area I'd go WR round 1 if the right guy was there. As opposed to Beanie Wells 4.59 at 235 pounds?....and it's not like Beanie Wells work ethic has never been questioned. There have been concerns about that since High School. All I'm saying is if I'm going to take a Runningback like that, I'd much rather have Shonn Greene a round or two later.
AdropOFvenom
Pointless debate Turner 5th Portis 2nd Slaton 3rd Forte 2nd Grant none Jacobs 4th I'll agree it's a pointless debate, mainly because history has shown that good players of all positions can be found anywheres in the NFL Draft. RB is not in any way special here. Why take a QB early when you can have Tom Brady (6th), Matt Cassel (7th), Matt Hasselbeck (6th), Kurt Warner (UDFA), Tony Romo (UDFA), ect. Why take a WR early when you can have Wes Welker (UDFA), Brandon Marshall (4th), Steve Smith (3rd), Terrell Owens (3rd), Hines Ward (3rd), Derrick Mason (4th), Donal Driver (7th), Steve Breaston (5th), Bernard Berrian (3rd), ect. You can do this for each and every position down the line. You do it because the prospects available in the 1st round for the most part are better then those that are available later on. Occasionally someone slips through the cracks, but that's the exception, not the trend.

war ensemble
RB is the type of position where talent isn't too necessary to an extent if you have a great O-Line. Our O-Line is pretty solid so I'd prefer it if we spent our draft picks elsewhere.
