Too bad the Jets are stupid and will not pursue him.

No, instead we're going to bank 110% on a draft pick instead of bringing in Holt AND taking someone at 17.

Your back at this again?

Now the JETS are stupid again?

lol

Only for not pursuing Holt.

I'm sorry that I'm not 110% in love with the Jets moves until they lose (like you) and then 110% hate every single thing they do once they lose two or three in a row (like you).

I like some, I hate some. Them not going after Holt would be one of the moves I would absolutely hate.

Scott? Awesome

Leonhard? Even better

Cut Moore? Stupid

Resign Moore? Great

Resign Richardson? Awesome

Don't pursure Garcia, Leftwich? Stupid

Don't pursure Galloway, Holt? Stupid

Your own reactions should help you understand the ones you do not like... they had a reason to cut Moore... and it worked out fine...

They have a reason to keep 3 young QB's... and it will work out... By bringing in an old man who wants to start you automatically kill off one of the 3 young guns... and most likely put the other one or even 2 on the bench before they have a chance to shine...

Same thing with WR... I wouldnt mind seeing Holt... but I can understand why if they like the young guys...

Thats fine if this team wasn't built to win now with veterans in their late 20's and early 30's. They need answers NOW. They don't need question marks and what ifs because the majority of the time those what ifs and question marks never pan out. By bringing in Garcia for one year it does nothing to Clemens or Ratliff, they're both very young. By drafting someone at 17 you hope that they are one of the rare WR's who contributes in his rookie season.

There is no problem at all in signing Garcia to a 1, 2 year deal and Holt to a 3 year deal. None.

If Ratliff or Clemens is better than Garcia thats a GOOD THING, and they would start over him with him providing veteran depth. Same goes for the 17th overall, if he's better than Holt, Holt still provides veteran experience and depth.

The problem is that they wont come here if they are not promised starting spots... no way Garcia comes to be judged by a rookie HC... same goes for Holt..

In the NFL... speed and youth wins it all... almost every time...

We don't need a super star at QB, we need a game manager. Jeff Garcia can do that and has done that many times effectively before. Tory Holt is not over the hill, he was on a garbage time with zero Offensive Line and once the OLine goes down hill, so does the QB and the passing game meaning the recievers numbers are going to go down. He is still a #1 WR in this league. Is he Top 5 like he once was? Nope, but he's still a #1 and a major upgrade over anything we've had here in YEARS.

Look how far Baltimore got last year with Joe Flacco mananging the offense. Take a look at that offense and how our offense would look like with Tory Holt and get back to me on who has the better offense.

2008 Baltimore

QB ~ Joe Flacco

RB1 ~ Willis McGahee

RB2 ~ LeRon McClain

FB ~ Lorenzo Neal

WR1 ~ Derrick Mason

WR2 ~ Mark Clayton

WR3 ~ Yamon Figurs

TE ~ Todd Heap

LT ~ Jared Gaither

LG ~ Ben Grubbs

C ~ Jason Brown

RG ~ Chris Cooper (I believe I have the 1st name right)

RT ~ Willie Anderson

OR

2009 New York Jets -- with Holt

QB ~ Kellen Clemens / Brett Ratliff

RB1 ~ Thomas Jones

RB2 ~ Leon Washington

FB ~ Tony Richardson

WR1 ~ Tory Holt

WR2 ~ Jerricho Cotchery

WR3 ~ Chansi Stuckey

TE ~ Dustin Keller

LT ~ D'Brickashaw Ferguson

LG ~ Alan Faneca

C ~ Nick Mangold

RG ~ Brandon Moore

RT ~ Damien Woody

Flacco was a "big name" because he was a 1st round pick, but take at look at his numbers -- actually if you want to judge correctly take a look at Baltimore games, especially playoff games, and see how they won and how much he actually did. He game managed to the extreme. Thats all we need from KC or BR, if we can get that, we can win and compete for a title. But we need a #1 WR to rely on.

Yet you prefer Nicks at WR because 40 times don't matter. They also don't lie.

They dont lie... and they dont matter... 40 yards means nothing... how fast can you get off the line with a hadn in your chest pads??? Thats what matters...

and the ability to translate that ability into routes... all of which Hicks is good at...

Maybe I'll pay attention to you when you learn his name.

For all the chatter about the 40 being meaningless, the fact is that fast is fast. I think it's fairly rare that a player has a 40 time that doesn't correllate to his shuttle times. Also, WR run close to 40 yards on a fairly regular basis.

Nicks is fast enough that there is no question he can be a top WR. The size of his hands are what make him a good prospect from the numbers. OTOH, I think I'd prefer more of a home run hitter,

It would be great to pick Holt up and a rookie via draft either round 1 or 2. He can tutor him and our young guys.

I think Holt would be a great pick up.

You shoot yourself in the foot before you type... "kobe>Jordan"

Nobody can trust what you say... lol

If you don't talk to Holt you aren't doing your job.

I'm not saying sign him. I'm saying talk to him and see what he wants.

Exactly. At least reach out and talk to him and his agent instead of just coming out with reports that "we are not interested".

I'm sure his agent has already called everyone... heck he most likely did "quietly" before they released him...

Problem is... Coles set the bar way to high for old WR's with his silly contract,...

Those reports most likely stem from the "insider"(office help who rats out Tanny) hearing Tanny scream at Holt's agent over the phone... "you want $xxx?!?!?!?" "GFY!"

Really? Keep in mind we are talking about offense here... not defense...

Even so... point out an old slow team that won it all?

the point is not on bieng slow einstein. you can't play in the nfl if your slow, in your case that would be a two'fer my point is on age, and not to mention that in almost every offense in the nfl majority of the players are slow QB,OL,FB,TE. only WRs and RBs are fast

Of course the big guys are gonna be "slow" duh!

Look at the skill positions though... youth and speed are the key... not old and lost a step...

Yeah. Imagine if you had Derrick Mason as your #1 WR. Damn, that would suck.
