  1. 1. Do you make this deal?

Recommended Posts

Listening to Sirius NFL Radio, Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan thought of a 3 way deal between the Jets, Broncos & Browns. Here is what they thought would happen:

Jets receive: QB Jay Cutler

Browns receive: S Kerry Rhodes

Broncos receive: QB Brady Quinn, Jets 2009 1st round draft pick

So I ask all of you, would you make that deal? Would you give up our 1st round pick and Kerry Rhodes for Jay Cutler?

Edit:: I'm not sure if our 1st round pick goes to Denver or Cleveland, but its going somewhere. I thought it was to Denver though.

So like said, would you give up our 1st & Rhodes for Cutler?

No, I wouldn't do it because I seriously doubt Rex Ryan would do it. He's not gutting his defense for Cutler.

Explain to me who the **** is going to play the Ed Reed role in Rex's defense?

Again, I ask you, who in 2009 is going to play the Ed Reed role in the Rex Ryan defense without Rhodes?

The answer is no one. Rodney Roid couldn't play that role 5 years ago.

i was joking about rodney roid

Kerry can be replaced, hollywood's play has slipped

and Cutler makes us a great team not just agood team

Hollywood's play wasn't up to par in 2008 but that is because of the stupid schemes put in place by Mangini, especially down the stretch having him blitz from 20,25 yards off the L.O.S.

He is going to make a tremendous return, and go even further into stardom, in 2009 with the Jets as long as he is a Jet.

I don't think Rex Ryan would do this, and I wouldn't agree with this trade either, its just fun to talk about and brings up debates.

i was impressed with kerry rhodes as a 4th rounder.however,i dont think he is an elite player and i beleive he is over rated.i would place his value at no higher than a second rounder.

i would give more than a 1st and a 2nd for cutler,so for me,it would be a great deal.just my oppinion

Draft one?

Seriously. So the Jets create another hole to fill by filling one hole? The team doesn't get better by improving the QB and worsening the defense.

need to trust rex..he will find one

you know franchise QBs do not grow on trees and he is only 25/26

rex will just draft another athlete

franchise QBs, when is the last time we had one????

JWN

I'm all in favor of getting Cutler, I just don't want to weaken another part of the team by doing so. The D is looking like it could be pretty good right now.

i'd rather start practice squad hero and have to run the ball 85% of the time than give up the established defensive playmaker.

Trust Rex?

There is absolutely no way Rex would approve of this move so how in the **** are we to "trust Rex?"

Rex, by his own words, wants Rhodes to be the fixture of his defense. You think the Jets would have signed Leonhard without Rhodes being here? Absolutely not. Leonhard's role is to compliment Rhodes and allow him to be a playmaker.

Guess what? The playmaker will now be gone and Leonhard will be exposed in the secondary.

Great, now the Jets will have as bad a secondary as it did last year. Makes perfect sense.

Pre-trade:::

Jets: 17, Elam, BT, TJones, Leon

Browns: Quinn, Braylon

Broncos: Cutler

Post Trade:::

Jets: Cutler, Braylon

Browns: Elam, BT, Jones

Broncos: Quinn, 17, Leon

Jets draft Uconn RB Brown in rd 2, roll the bones with Gholston at DE/OLB, draft Vaughn in the 3rd!

Sign me up.

Short of that pipe dream? Pass.

Rhodes does not equal Reed, but there is absolutely no one on the team or in the draft for 2009 that can fill Rhodes' role in the Rex system.

Teams do not improve by ruining their defense to improve the offense.

Funny, Cutler never went 12-4 with a bad defense so how in the heck is he going 12-4 with a Jets defense that has been gutted of an important player?

And their 1st round pick, for whatever its worth. In this deal, they lose it.

i'm counting on rex using Pace correctly, gholston does something

bart scott, and lido sheppard and leonard

you act like we have nothing on D

cutler is missing piece, our D has a real coach now and isn't anything close

to bronco mess

without cutler we are 8-8 enjoy the season

more exciting though

Dunno. Who are we losing besides Rhodes?

You are right. I changed my mind. I would do this trade. My first reaction was whenever you find a diamond like Rhodes or Leon Washington in the 4th round, the thought of trading them or losing them to FA horrifies me.

But to get a young franchise QB ... you have to do it.

Nobody is going to play the Ed Reed role unless his name is Ed Reed or Ronnie Lott pumps his body full of HGH. That being said, this trade is beyond ridiculous. Cutler isn't worth that much. I could see a 1st. round pick but one of the better Safeties in the league on top of that? :rl:
