Anyone watch "Kings" this past Sunday?

I am curious about after seeing Ian McShane was a part of it.

Any reviews? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Thanks.

Good thread PFSIKH . I had thought about it but the promos just did nothing for me so I passed on it. I'm interested to see what others thought as well. Maybe I'll jump in mid stream.

I watched the first hour or so and was bored by it. It's basically a soap opera trying to be edgy. I won't seek it out.

Thanks, Borgo. I've never heard of the show before but loved McShane in Deadwood. When I saw the thread, I thought I had missed a good show, but it doesn't sound as if I did. Too bad.

Watch, now the show will become a TV classic. Again, this is just my opinion. The show wasn't horrible or anything, just nothing special.

That is really the only reason I was thinking of watching it.

I watched the last hour and a half and will be tuning into next weeks. They could do a lot of cool things with the story. I saw that borgo quit after an hour but he should of stuck around because I think the second half picked up and really started to turn the wheels of the story. I'd say tune in and give it a shot. It has a Shakespearian feel to it which is certainly a good thing. There are a lot of things at work, power from god vs. power from money, war vs. peace, father vs. son, rich vs. poor, and plenty of more.

I tuned in because anything with Ian McShane is worth a try in my book. Eh, it was Al Swearengen Light as expected. No great shakes. They're really hyping it as if it's this big, deep premise, and it's just a boring and kitschy take on Davey & Goliath. David & Goliath. Whatever. Some of it was just plain hokey. The crown of butterflies was godawful, and the battlefield scene where the guy reasons with the enemy. Haha, get a job. They would have shot his face off, and because they didn't, I wanted to shoot all of them. C- all around.

I just watched the show and agree.

It started slow, but it picked up as Lag said.

I do not know about the D&G reference, but the potential plot between King Silas, his brother-in-law and King Silas' son could be interesting.

Agreed.

I thought this second episode showed some really good progression. I'm started to think this could be a winner. One problem I had was, how is the King's daughter out in public and it's like no one recognizes her? Shepherds mom doesn't seem to notice either.
