My favorite Gator of all time.

There are certain guys that were just born to play, Percy is one of them.

The kid lives for the game. He is going to make some team very happy.

Percy is going to slip to the top of the second round. bank it.

I will go on record saying that this guy will 100% not make it out of the first round. He is a top 10 or greater talent, but a few extenuating circumstances will make him fall to the 17-30ish picks. The injuries I think are missperceived, he won't be carrying the ball and being hit by linebackers 15+ times a game. From what the reports have said, he looked very fluid in drills and showed good hands.

He has outstanding hands. And people knock him for his route running, Im here to tell you, he can get open.

He was by far our best 3rd down receiver. Thats all he does, is move the chains, and break games wide open.

I haven't liked him all year but after watching his interview I am starting to change my mind. Apparently, his injuries have come from lining up at the rb position. The guy is ripped! Yep, I am starting to believe.

He is very strong and all of his injuries that he has had were minor, he bounced back with seemingly no negative affects.

I think Harvin is a true talent and will make some team very happy. They will be even happier because they only spent a second rounder on him. I think he will drop because of his size, route running, and the injury issues. I think you are right though he won't be so injury prone because he won't be an nfl teams only big play threat at every skill position. I'd love to have him here, but he won't be available for us in the second unless we move up.

I gotta say I don't think there is much chance he makes it past the Titans in the 1st... The only reason I could see him lasting that long is depending on how certain teams have their draft boards set up. The draft is really deep with WR talent and I think your right on one account one of the top receivers will fall into the top of the second but I don't think it's Harvin.

Harvin ran a 4.41 at the combine on what most say was a slow surface. He is supposedly still not 100% recovered from the hairline fracture in his ankle, but one thing is sure he has god given speed. I don't think i'm going out on a limb to say he is probably the fastest receiver in this years draft.

If I'm Tannenbaum though I'm signing Matt Jones and giving up whatever it takes to land Cutler.

have ANY Gator WR's NOT been a bust?

Not really fair considering that most of the Gator WR busts over the last 20 years were Spurrier players, and he's gone now. I think the only real significant WR prospects they've had over the last couple years were Chad Jackson (Injury related bust) and Andre Caldwell (Too soon to tell).

I think it's going out on a limb considering that he was more than a tenth slower than Heyward-Bey. That doesn't mean he's not super fast or won't perform at the next level, but he's not the fastest.

The one thing that really stinks about the 40 and the combine is that none of it matter if that player doesnt have in game speed with pads on.

I dont care what Percy runs during his 40, the guy is lightening on the field. Totally uncatchable. His breakaway speed is ridiculous. He makes a very fast loaded SEC D's look slow.

The 40 yard dash is the worst f'ing thing ever.

They were even talking about it on Sirius NFL radio yesterday how there is only one route in the entire NFL where you would run in a straight line like that, everything else involves the Receiver doing something else where he cannot run in a straight line, so the 40 yard dash is nice but it does not show the field on the speed.

It tells you how fast the guy is. That doesn't mean that a faster guy will necessarily provide more production, but it's a pretty good way to test speed. What do you prefer, the shuttle run? Harvin wasn't fastest at that either.

I ran 25-40 yard routes (fly or post) about 10-15 times in yesterday's practice and that's as the #2(SE) and the QB doesn't even have a big arm.

PS: Sirius NFL radio is about as reliable a source as JetNation.

Really?

If you truly believe that, you'd be dead wrong. They have the best analysts, are run by the NFL so they double, triple, quadruple check EVERYTHING before they come out and say something on the radio. They are no ESPN.

Plus, yes, shuttle runs and cone drills are viewed more effectively than 40 times. All you have to do is listen to Sirius people like Pat Kirwan, Gil Brandt and others to know that. You know, people who spent years in NFL front offices :)

Like Mike Lombardi? It's still entertainment.

You are fighting a non-point though. The post was that Harvin is the fastest WR in this year's draft. I say he's not. How do you prove it? Don't you do it by seeing how fast he runs? You can argue that it is a moot point as far as NFL production, but not as far as who is the fastest.

What about actually evaluating what you see on tape?

Harvin looks like a flash of light on the field. He is uncatchable against the fastest D's in the nation.

IMO that is the one reason the combine is important. Your eyes will lie a hell of a lot more than the stopwatch. You can tell me that Harvin will be a better pro based upon game tape, but I'm not going to believe that you can tell who is faster. If they isolated every lane of an Olympic sprint I doubt any of us could even tell who won.

I'll stop now. I'm not a Harvin fan, but that's purely personal feeling and not really talent based. If anything I see his 40 time as a major positive.

To be fair,so was McFadden. And he sucks.

LOL

To be fair, it is impossible to make the verdict that DMC sucks after 1 year on a team like Oakland. He showed signs that he can play, he was just banged up playing for a terrible team.

For the topic of conversation, they arent running track on Sundays, they are playing Football. And if you have seen Percy play, you see blazing speed.

I agree he's fast and I like him more than McFadden(Percy actually has moves) but to say he dominated the SEC doesnt really mean that much.

It does when he has 2 National Championships under his belt and the SEC is known for their stout defense. But if you are saying that it doesnt neccessarily mean that because he dominate the SEC he will have success at the next level, when then I agree. But it surely helps his case.

Wait, what?

Darren McFadden was as productive as any RB in the league last year when he was on the field and given the ball, he just had an injury plagued year. He's most likely going to be a superstar in this league.

There are some that would say that he will most likely be an injury prone back in this league.
