ECURB, I think you are a wonderful, true green jet fan like us all, but Lance insults only go so far. Some serious debate now, OK, please, E! I was there for you in the trenches over Chad, so instead of the insults which are old, change my mind. I see great and average in the OP, then i see an attempt to be funny at my expense, how about a real argument. cool?

dbatesman
In the 2007 preseason Clemens' numbers were as follows: 30-41 (73.2%), 364 yards, 8.9 YPA, 4 TD, 2 INT This means one of two things: 1. You think Kellen Clemens is awesome and has just as good a chance of starting as Ratliff. 2. In a rare moment of clarity, you suddenly realize that preseason numbers mean absolutely nothing, and we'll just have to wait until some actual games are played to see who the best QB truly is. Frankly, I don't have high hopes for either.
ZachEY
PLEASE tell me what is wrong with supporting this guy: There's nothing wrong with supporting him. There's is something wrong with thinking that 3rd string preseason success, backed by unimpressive college performances, and not a single recorded NFL pass, actually means he has any value as a real starter. Are we done now?
124
Go take a look at Clemens' 2007 Preseason stats and then get back to me. You are clearly anti-Clemens and ignore the good things he has done as you went from Pennington to Ratliff. In the end, Preseason means... JACK F'ING $HIT!!! CoachTsurfing
It's hard to say whether it's pre-season or regular season based on who they play, when they came into a game, was the coach being conservative. It's real hard to say. I like Clemens, but I think just based on what I've seen Ratliff might have the edge. We still have this thing called training camp and pre-season. I'm sure we will see a clear cut winner. At least I hope so.

Are we done now? They used to say the same thing about Tom Brady. Now I'm not saying that Brett Ratliff or Kellen Clemens will be Tom Brady, but the fact remains that you never know about ANY player at this level until they get an opportunity to play. Personally, I'm for whoever plays better. That said, I gotta have faith in the staff that they'll choose the right guy based on what they see, and they'll see far more than any of us. Those arent excuses. Those are truths. It was preseason against 3rd stringers. If the coaching staff feels he can be successful as a starter I will support him. I dont need to jump on the bandwagon of a 3rd string QB in March. I'll let the professionals decide who is the best candidate for our QB position. When you work 80 hours a week in Florham Park watching tape, practice, attend meetings, etc. then you can come back and tell us how great he is. But 3rd string stats in preseason is no reason to anoint him the starter.

Yeah, Tom Brady is a special case, and more importantly, I'm not saying 'don't believe in Ratliff', any more than I'd be saying 'don't believe in god'... I'm simply saying, all you have is faith, nothing tangible to work with. Those that know me from JI, know where I stand on the old 'tangible v. intangible' argument.
