Greenseed3
Rex Ryan was directing the defensive line drills at San Jose St. today druing their pro day; the player in particular being watched was Jarron Gilbert, who stood at 6-5 and weighed 284 (four pounds less than the combine)... Apparently, Gilbert looked incredible in all of his drill-work.
Greenseed3
Twenty six teams were on hand at San Jose State as they started the workout bright and early on a cold and breezy morning. The star of the day, Jarron Gilbert, delivered as expected. Gilbert measured 6051/284-pounds, four less than his combine weight. His jumps were fantastic as Gilbert posted a 37-inch vertical jump and 10-foot 7-inch broad. His forty's averaged 4.76 seconds, significantly faster than his performance at the combine. Gilbert's 10yd split was 1.67-seconds and his 20yd-split was 2.75 seconds. He ran into a slight breeze. Later Gilbert ran in the low 4.4's in the short shuttle and posted a 3-cone time of 7.57 seconds. The almost three dozen scouts on hand watched as New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan put Gilbert through a series if defensive line drills. Even as the defensive backs started their workout the scouts paid little attention, watching every detail of Gilbert's session work. By all accounts it was a terrific performance and Gilbert is very much knocking on the door of round one. www.tfydraft.com
neckdemon
defensive end? if we draft defense with our 1 st rounder i think i'll just shoot myself. this guy probably won't make it to the second round.
BroadwayJ667
all i care about is drafting good players, i don't care where they play, only that they play spectacularly. btw, really liking Ramses Barden from Cal Poly
Larz
we need a DE coleman sucks, and ellis is getting old I'd be on board with drafting a DE with any of the first three picks

BroadwayJoe12
Gilbert is projected as a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick, we could have him at 52. He was being projected as a late 2nd/early 3rd, but with the way he absolutely dominated the East-West Shrine game, coupled with the workouts he's been putting up, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we have to move up with our 2nd pick to get him. That would not upset me at all as I am all about quality in this draft and not quantity. I fell in love with this guy when I saw him play at the Shrine game, he reminds me a lot of a more athletic IAF a few years back, who I also wanted the jets to draft quite badly. I truly believe gilbert is going to be a stud, and I only wish that i could have seen a clip of Rex down there running the drils. I could just picture that the scouts collectively were like F#CK!! when ryan was down their working him out, knowing that this kid isn't going to fall to anyone..he's gonna need to be grabbed. Also, another player that is putting up some very impressive numbers this year is Connor Barwin...he could also flourish in Rex's system.

Bachelors3
I think the whole Gilbert thing is to keep the hounds at bay. Also at this Pro-Day at San Jose St. was Ramses Barden from Cal Poly who is the guy I really think Rex is after. The defense is almost set except for depth (e.g. Samari Rolle) and we really need a receiver(s) and a rb and a QB. So, all the other teams see and read that Rex was closely watching Gilbert while all the while he covets Barden in the 2nd or 3rd round. Rex may actually be smart. Wouldn't that be a nice change?? BTW, this is the scouting report on Barden: But catch the consensus scouting report on Barden, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound pack of wonder: "Big, great hands, athletic and can dominate. Great target. A certain No. 2 receiver with upside. Can take over a game. Tremendous body control. The best blocker of all receivers in the draft. Reminiscent of San Diego Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson but projected to become the better player. You need or want a big receiver, this player cannot be ignored. Could slip into the bottom of the first round. Should not last past the second round." That is a sterling report for such a big player from such a small school. Especially WR. They can't all go in the first. Britt is being projected up there too. If all these guys are moving up, who is dropping?
Dcat
Gilbert is projected as a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick, we could have him at 52. Not correct. Gilbert is projected as an early 2nd rounder withthe possibility of late 1st round. He has been moving up the charts since the combine.

If all these guys are moving up, who is dropping? Knowshon Moreno for one. His speed was like a 4.6 in the 40. LeSean McCoy for two.
