Serious Question for Clemens supporters

There are people on this board who want a Young Jet QB to fail so they could be the smarter message board poster. Pretty sick if you ask me, but noone did.

yes, pretty sick and far from a jet fan, more like a "me on the internet" fan.

I hope Kellen Clemens is the best QB the game has ever seen! and Ratliff, and Ainge.

I hope Lowery becomes the next Champ Bailey.

I hope Rex Ryan is the next Bill Parcells.

We have a kid who has shown nothing but positives, yes, against fireman lol(i love that one) 3rd string NFL players are all fireman and truck drivers lol, but still he's shown positives, he has great size and a JET FAN drags him through the mud.

What parallel dimension am i in? Thank God for Brady he was never a Jet. Actually that's probably why we never have any Brady's or Romo's. We had a pretty good one named Pennington, but the fans tore him to shreds.

We even had a HOF running back but JET FANS called him a stat compiler, whatever that is, Curtis F%$king Martin got dissed by Jet Fans. I'm actually ashamed right now.

You are being a bit contraindicative. You claim that you dont want anyone to fail, yet you have a clear favoritism for Brett Ratliff.

Why?

Its totally fair for people to want to see more of Kellen. It doesnt matter how bad you think he looked, some saw potential. Its their prerogative if they want to see more of the young man.

And I dont know but a couple of people who want to see Ratliff fail and its not because they want to say I told you so, its to laugh at the Ratliff lovers who have baseless claims other than a couple of well thrown balls to wide open receivers in the preseason.

I really don't care which one of them steps up, I just want one to step up. Taking the opposing viewpoint of someone on the interweb to have an interesting and informative debate is fun.

Do I favor Clemens? Yes. The reason is because I've seen a lot more of him, seen him against actual NFL competition and I saw great potential for improvement and saw a kid make the best he could out of a horrible situation and damn near go .500 with an awful team.

As far as Ratliff is concerned I think its much ado about nothing. I didn't see anything special. I saw a kid put up some impressive numbers against awful competition. I even wrote a blog about it: http://ainteasybeingreen.wordpress.com/2008/08/17/induction-ceremony/

I see a kid whose numbers are inflated dramatically by two passes. Who at times looked incredibly unimpressive to me but people are going nuts for primarily because of the two previously mentioned passes.

Do I really care, or have an emotional investment in either one? No. I just think Clemens is the better option. If Ratliff lights it up and takes the job, so be it, I will root my ass off for him.

But I am not on here claiming to be neutral or unbiased while having "Ratliff '09" in my sig like some people.

We dragged him through the mud? How dare fans question whether or not he has talent to be a real #1 QB in the NFL with his only evidence being a few plays as a 3rd stringer in preseason and has never been more than a 3rd string QB on the depth chart.

You're just as bad as the posters you are criticizing. You claim to want the best QB, yet you are rooting for Ratliff while bashing Clemens. HOW DARE YOU!

No matter what you or I think, Rex Ryan will start the QB who is best for this team this year. Our thoughts and opinions dont matter. Nor did it matter if we bashed Martin or Chad. Their performance wasnt affected by negative fans..

I prefer Ratliff, but I'm fully convinced that Clemens is the better option and I'm pretty sure he has a considerably stronger arm. I just don't like the way Clemens looks in the pocket. He looks short and nervous - and that makes me think "backup QB". I also don't care which one steps up, but I'd prefer that it's Ratliff because I think, production being equal, I'd prefer to watch him.

PS: I may well prefer Ainge to the other two, does that create some kind of crazy problem? Anybody want to start a thread?

Well, here is a thread where you argue that Ratliff is better than Clemens based on preseason stats. When it was brought to your attention that Clemens had a great preseason in 2007, your response was "what have you done for me lately? Who cares about 07? This is a win now League."

Here is a thread in which you admonish all of us to root for our team, whoever the QB is--and then finish with the words "GO Ratliff, unless we can get Cutler!" Sweet irony, thy name is lancemehl.

And that's just from page 1 of the 10-page "Threads Started By lancemehl" search results.

Now that we've determined that you're publicly rooting for Ratliff even as you tell the rest of us to "root for the team, not the player," I'm still waiting for real, solid evidence of a Jet fan--any Jet fan--actively rooting against one of our QBs.
