If Thomas Jones doesn't have another career year and actually reverts back to slightly above average at 30.

I doubt it because we managed to keep our line together.

I'm hopeful about Caulrick, to at least show promise and improve.

I'm also hopeful that this is the year Leon becomes a 15-20 carry back, and a few screen passes. With Leonhard PR there's no excuse not to.

A Strong running game and a monster defense can do it. I say Go offense all draft.

Thomas Jones already is just sightly above average at best. His "career year" had a lot more to do with our O-line which will only get better, not him being a high end running back. That's why I found it laughable when I read he might be angling for a new contract and before the draft. He can be easily replaced.

funny, you're the only one who didn't answer with a thought, I see a pattern, you NEVER answer a thread with a thought. The Lancemehl bit is getting OLd, played out, don't see that? lololol

Yes another lancemehl thread, about our running game, any thoughts,.............didn't think so. hahahaha you're the joke!

Don't doubt it. Any RB is going to struggle with 9 in the box, which unless we get some weapons (QB/WR) in the passing game, we're going to see religiously.

If you give 15-20 carries to Leon Washington, there's no way Thomas Jones can have another career year. Those 2 items contradict one another.

correct on the first point, and by career year, i don't mean numbers wise, just the way he ran, hit the holes, in otherwords the opposite of 07 when i called him Kevan Barlow.

Thomas Jones was great for us last year, but, AS YOU SAID, and i agree, we had brett Favre, he is not as good as i think we think he is, in fact i know he isn't.

shoulda grabbed michael turner during all that mess screw the money, but that neither here nor there. lol

He ran the same exact way in 2007, and previous years. The difference between 2007 and 2008 was there weren't 8-9 in the box and the OL was solid.

Thomas Jones was not great for us. The OL and FB and the threat of Favre throwing it anywhere to anyone at any time were great for Thomas Jones.

Thats what I fear.

Say what you want about Favre, but he opened up running lanes by keeping safties honest. If you dont have the threat, then the safties cheat. The safties cheat, it really doesnt matter how good your oline is, it become difficult to run.

What a joke... the DBs were not scared of Favres deep balls... they all floated and were all short...

Of course the safeties stayed back against Favre. No matter how many yards Jones ran for, Favre was bound to heave them a couple of balls per game. It would suck not to be there when they arrived.

You're a joke. If you dont think that Favre helped open running lanes, you are nuts. It doesnt matter if the ball gets their or not, its the option of the ball being thrown anywhere at any time. DB's love picks and there wasnt an easier QB to pick off last year.

Bull****... Miami had a hell of a running game this year...

Its all in the way you call the game... Shotty had the infatuation with throwing out patterns 10 times in a row until one got picked off... the whole world could have jumped the route... luckily for us Favre seemed to audible out of Shottys first choice mroe often than not...

Nobody in the NFL was scared of Favres arm last season... nobody.

Every QB heaves a few every game... even the weak armed Pennington had a few lob ups work in Miami...

You act like the JETS had a WR who could blow past the CB and they would need a safety back there... lol

They ran the wild cat nincompoop. Smoke and mirrors, Chadwick was lining up as a WR. Totally different scenario my man.

I dont know if its lucky or not...sure didnt have a great end result most of the time. Bottom line, our running game benefited from having the threat of a QB that can score from anywhere on the field. Toward the end of the season, this wasnt the case, and the run game suffered accordingly.

After the Denver game, we failed to produce a 100 yard rusher, coincidently, that was the decline of Brett Favre's season.

Every NFL game that is played doesnt necessarily have a long pass completion. In 8 of our games, we had passes of 40 or more yards.

You act like we didnt have any deep balls completed at all.

How many of those were actual 40 yard passes? How many were 15 or 20 yard passes with some YAC?

Favre's arm scared nobody back... he cannot throw downfield and is finally retiring because of it... and think about the long passes he did complete... like the miracle catch Cotch made... its not like he nailed the throws... he tossed up a prayer... like he always has... except this time without the cannon to back him up...

He is arm significantly got worse as the season went on, no news there and consequently, our running game suffered as it worsened.

You are kidding yourself if you are trying to tell me that prior to the Denver game, teams didnt fear Favre throwing the ball. He is Brett friggin Favre dude and he was playing well up til that point. Once he started to **** the bed, yeah, he didnt scare anyone, and once again, our run game suffered.

Its pretty simple. How is that so hard to understand?

Gee I wonder why the short passing game was so available until that point?

Cause teams worked on stopping the run and then had to decide "Do I get beat short or long" and teams up until then decided "short". Once teams decided "You'll have to beat me long" we got pwned, and the run game did not help us at all either.

Yep. Its very simple logic.
