PFSIKH
What are they lookng to do? I thought the proposed increase in games would mean taken away preseason games? Are they going to start at the same time?

slats
They could add a game without pushing anything back just by eliminating the bye week. I wonder what the players would think about that. Do they enjoy the soft week during the season, or do they view it as an extra week that they don't get paid for? And I agree, Championship games at a neutral site is a bad idea. Probably both, but I imagine they appreciate the break.
Larz
Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal reports Steve Bornstein, NFL executive vice president of media, confirmed that the league, as part of an idea to add regular-season games to the schedule, could push the Super Bowl later and move the league championship games from January to early February, one of television’s important sweeps months. “There is a consideration if we redeploy the number of preseason games and regular-season games that the Super Bowl, conceivably, could be played later,” Bornstein said at the owners meetings last week. Asked whether the NFC and AFC Championship games could also be played in February, Bornstein said, “It’s under consideration. Nothing has been decided, but certainly that [scenario] is one I have seen as well.” Given the weather in many Northern cities in February, one source speculated that the league could move to neutral sites for these games. you can see where this is going the NFL is scared ****less about this economy but people will still watch the games on TV so they promise the TV people better ad revenue derived from sweeps ratings, by putting the games into february ( and at night) in exchange for more money for the NFL so the owners can make up for lost ticket revenue and gameday revenue (parking, programs, etc) what could be even worse is a predetermined site like march madness the AFC would be rotating domes or warm sites like indy or miami the nfc would be the same, ariz or dallas
