LoneStarLady
I knew it was bad there, but I never imagined Detroit like this. Wow. "Detroit was once home to nearly 2 million people but has shrunk to a population of perhaps less than 900,000. It is estimated that a city the size of San Francisco could fit neatly within its empty lots. As nature abhors a vacuum, wildlife has moved in." JerryK
Ugh...that reminds me of Roger and Me when the lady was chasing the rabbit around the back yard with a baseball bat. Funny. I was about to post that this has already happened to Flint. I've heard stories that you can buy houses for about 5 bucks (gotta pay the taxes too). The city of Flint has begun taking over abandoned houses and just making little parks everywhere.
The Gun Of Bavaria
Wait? What have I done to deserve being in Ground zero when the blast hits? Words cannot describe just how bad Detroit is. I'm not embellishing, I'm not being over dramatic. I can't emphasize just how bad the entire city is, from each and every street within its borders to the others. There are mass areas of town that look like Dresden, Germany in 1944. There are neighborhoods that looks exactly like cities I saw while deployed to Bosnia in 1997. The schools are an absolute train wreck, inept and $300 million in the red. City services are pathetic. The police are outgunned and outmanned, and the fire department is woefully understaffed and underequipped. I could go on and on. Nothing works in the city. There isn't one single major supermarket chain in the entire city. The former infrastructure for 2.2 million people is decaying and rotting away in a town of now honestly, the high 800,000s The city government as a whole is inept. Hell things are so bad they're talking about "Urban Farming". Check out an article in today's Detroit Free press. Drop the bomb, just get my family our first. http://www.freep.com/article/20090402/BUSINESS04/904020370/Vacant+city+land+eyed+as+urban+farming+hot+spot
Sperm Edwards
I was thinking about buying one of those $2-3 per square foot houses. Is Archdale Street a good place to live?
Jets Babe
Saddam Hussein has the keys to the city of Detroit. Nuff said... (And I'm not kidding either... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/03/26/iraq/main546287.shtml )

Mavrik
There's still time for a large corporation to buy large chunks of Detroit and turn it into 'Delta City'.
