Garb
read your post about frannie Go to NFL.COM and tell me who is better - ON PAPER - STATISTICALLY - then tell me how inaccurate I am. Listen - I get it. You loved his intangibles, gut, balls, gumption, fearlessness. I get it. That is how I feel about Brady. Screw the #'s - I just knew that when he was on the field I always had a chance. Hopefully that will continue this year. But I am not blind. Anyone that says that Brady has a strong arm is crazy. Anyone that says he throws a pretty, effortless deep ball - crazy talk. It took him forever to throw long, consistently and accurately and he still has issues sometimes- regardless of Moss. BTW - for the gazillionth time - I do not fear Jay Cutler. I want you to get him - I just feel bad for you.

JoeWillie
I've said a few times - I HAVE NO IDEA. THE STATS SAY HE SUCKS. I DID NOT SEE HIM PLAY. I WILL DEFER TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE - with one exception. Homer Jest fans. They have no credibility I do like the way you use stats to propel your argument though. Let's dig a little deeper: Namath had a 13 year career with a total of 173 TD's, 220 INT's and a 65.5 QB rating Tarkenton had an 18 year career with 342 td's, 266 int's and a 80.0 rating. Thanks for playing! Wait - you know something, I get why a lot of you want Cutler...and why a lot of you were high on Favre. It's the "Namath Hangover." (pun intended) You want a "hellion" who throws a boat-load of int's. It all makes sense now! Namath's career spanned 13 seasons, but he missed the better part of 3 of those due to injury, and as I said before, the last three may as well have been played from a wheelchair. A more accurate look would be to look at "games played". Tarkenton played 246 games, with 239 starts. Namath played in a little more than half the games Tark did, 140 games, with 130 starts, mostly on two terrible wheels. At the end of the day, Namath was named All League/All Conference 5 times to Tark's 9 and both were named 1st team All-Pro the same number of times. When you consider the number of games played for each, Namath's stats are pretty comparable to Tarkenton. Certainly not trying to knock Tarkenton, who was also a great player in his time, but for the most part, his stats are more the result of a "compiler". I think most people who saw both play would at no point during that time, think Tarkenton was even the best QB in his conference never mind all of football. But the common consensus back then (and yes, I was there) was that between 1967 and 1972, Namath was the best QB in the game. In baseball terms, Tarkenton would be Phil Niekro or Don Sutton. Namath would be Koufax.

After boldly guaranteeing a victory prior to the game, Jets quarterbackJoe Namath completed 17 out of 28 passes for 206 yards, and was named the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player, despite not throwing a touchdown pass in the game or any passes at all in the fourth quarter. PatriotReign37
how did i miss this?????? the colts were bragging all week you d1ck4 namath had enuff with this crap and made guarantee on saturday When Cindy was presented with Plax's drivvel, he could have been a man and spoke his mind, instead he shriveled up like a baby. Leave it to Jets fans to embelish this fish tale. The legend of Namath grows every year like Daniel Boone. Hey, doofus, Namath ran his mouth 3 days prior to the game on Sunday. 1 Colts fan heckled him. What a puss. However, three days before the game, Namath appeared at the Miami Touchdown Club and boldly predicted to the audience, "We're [Jets] gonna win the game. I guarantee it." Namath later claimed he only made his famous "guarantee" in response to a rowdy Colts fan at the club, who boasted the Colts would easily defeat the Jets. Namath later claimed he never intended to make such a public prediction, and never would have done so if he had not been confronted by the fan.[4] According to Matt Snell, all of the Jets, not just Namath, were insulted and angry that they were 18-point underdogs

You don't suppose that Tiki Barber and Brandon Jacobs have anything to do with those playoff appearances do you? did Tiki Barber or Brandon Jacobs win the Superbowl MVP award? brandon jacobs misses atleast 3 games a year; Tiki was a whiny bitch who quit and helped the team with the superbowl by NOT being there. horrible arguement Alk. Look at Namath's numbers, looks like he could play ball control when necessary. The Colts played off because they feared the deep ball and the their vaunted run defense got crushed. shawn306
I have a real issue with Plunkett being on the list. Any QB who is the winning QB in 2 Super Bowls is pretty good. People forget that he started his career on some pretty awful teams in New England and SF. Once he got out and had some time to get his head back together. He also didn't have to throw the ball all over the yard. (Geez where I have heard that before for Super Bowl winners.) It helps when you have guys like Marcus Allen, Todd Christensen on your team. That 83 Raiders team went out there and destroyed one of the NFL greatest offenses in the Redskins.
