POS kills war hero's dog.

He would have killed them too. No doubt.

Luttrell was recovering from surgery, but when he spotted a suspicious car parked nearby, he crawled under a fence and snuck up on the strangers, aiming a 9mm pistol at them from about 25 yards away.

Sounds like he had a chance and didn't.

yeah i've no doubt he would have. glad to hear he wasn't charged with anything. the wrong cop coulda been difficult in that situation

True, but this is Texas. You don't **** with soldiers down here. Fort Hood (with more than 50,000 soldiers assigned), Lakeland and the other air force bases in San Antonio, the other bases around the state, and the number of Texans in the service makes this an armed-forces-friendly state.

This is the saddest part:

Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross for combat heroism in 2006. He is the lone SEAL team member to survive a June 2005 firefight with the Taliban in Afghanistan and was given a puppy to help him heal after he returned from the war. He named it Dasy as an acronym for his SEAL team members lost in that battle.

He added that Dasy's killing was a huge setback in his life. "I was trying to talk myself out of being who I am," he told the Chronicle. "Talking to myself about not doing the one thing I am good at."

Not only did this POS kill a dog, but he truly affected this soldier's recovery from a horrific experience. I really hope our Texas justice system comes through this time again.

His book, "LOne Survivor" is an incredible read. He left out the extent of torture the Taliban did to him, probably because he still has trouble dealing with it.

I know w'ere not supposed to be political but reading that book was a turning point. Why are we asking such maginificent men to do go on such pointless missions isn scuh awful places? What is the point in this Afghan and Iraq wars?

It may not be much consolation - but here's a petition to give the scumbag's the most jail time allowable.

This guy has got to be super-human not to have blown those vermin away after having them in his sites.

I just signed it. I feel so bad for Luttrell, like he hasn't been through enough? Hope they all get azz-raped and then shanked in prison.

Thanks. I signed it and sent it to friends. They'll be 5000 signatures in no time.

I hate those rat bastards. After the court is through with them I hope the locals pass down their sentence.

THAT happened to THAT guy? Of all of the people in the world? I heard about this the other day, and either you get the dog thing or you don't; but a war hero was trying to heal as well as he could and this is what happens? What a sad, sad thing. Those punks are lucky they aren't dead in a fridge at the coroner's office. Credit to Luttrell for holding on to his humanity and then some. I can't say that I could have, especially given the triggers involved (no pun intended).

Before anyone starts waxing retarded that dogs are more important than people, they aren't. It doesn't mean cruelty should be excused. People eat dogs, and I don't take 'moral' stands on such things when people are starving. Still, do it better when you're able - dogs are cognizant, which leads to another point. Did Michael Vick feed the homeless with his executed dogs any more than these turds are making dog stew?

Nothing like the love of a dog. I hope Marcus Luttrell can find some semblance of peace in his life, which is what his dog was for. GBA.
