US Captain free - jumps overboard

I've been waiting for that to happen. I figured either the Capt would jump over board and Seals would shoot them or Seals would come up to the boat at night time and take out the pirates. Either way it's a good ending. I hope every time pirates take a US ship we kill them, sooner or later they'll leave US ships alone.

For all you who think the captain jumped overboard, read the article.

U.S. Navy snipers fatally shot three pirates holding an American cargo-ship captain hostage after seeing that one of the pirates "had an AK-47 leveled at the captain's back," a military official said Sunday."

While working through the negotiations process tonight, the on-scene commander from the Bainbridge made the decision that the captain's life was in immediate danger, and the three pirates were killed," Gortney said. "The pirate who surrendered earlier today is being treated humanely; his counterparts who continued to fight paid with their lives."

The three pirates, who were armed with AK-47 rifles, were killed by shooters who were aboard the Bainbridge, Gortney said.

Perfectly stated. Someone please tell me what the f**k is up with this Jetophile character. Is she a caricature or seriously posting constant idiocy and rabble rousing tripe?

She used to be entertaining and has actually made some very high quality posts over the years. Lately, however, I think she's off her meds.

we haven't had a pirate incident in a couple of hundred years-they paid dearly for effing with our Special Forces-my big brother is smiling somewhere from the great beyond

CNN said they dropped the Seal sharpshooters in by parachute in the dead of night-3 head shots from 3 different Navy Seals-very impressive

(oh yea my bro was a Green Beret and he told me people that SAID they were Special Forces and WEREN'T were publicly sought out and made to recant their lie-proud bunch of tough mofers)

Lets keep politics out of this -lets congrats our military crew for doing a great job and captain freed and safe.

Exactly. This thread won't make sense to some because they can't see the deleted posts but this is not the place for those opinions. Just garbage.

That's the lesson those scumbags hopefully learned today.

Ooops

I forgot to tell everyone that due to Jetophile's political slant on this topic, I had to delete a bunch of posts.

And for the record, as much as everyone knows how I dislike "the guy in question", he did a good job on this one. I mean that too.

Jesus apparently nothing can bring this country together. Today, our highly skilled, highly trained and highly potent military saved a brave American from some very bad people. We as Americans should be proud of the Mersk Alabama Captain for his bravery, the crew of the Mersk Alabama for their fine response and determination, the men and women of the US Navy for their great work....(AND SOME SICK SICK SHOOTING SKILLS) and, yes I'm saying it, our president for making a good decision, not letting a bunch of khat junkies boss us around and giving the men what they needed to get it done.

America wins today. Be proud for one Effing day some of you.

It's almost unavoidable given the topic itself. For the record, most folks who know me know I'm a tremendous supporter of the military and said so. Of course it's a great day, and there isn't any disagreement there. I don't think there ever was; but I'll tone it down all around.

Don't tone it down. Just pick your spots better. When you are always the sledgehammer, most people miss the subtleties, which is a shame because you have more substance than that.

I don't think she needs to pick her spots better. I don't think anyone should change who they are or whom they portray themselves as. Allegedly there is a strict "no politics" policy here. That's all. That's a good thing. Otherwise my head would explode with all the liberal gobbly-gook here - bleh. ;)

I wasn't commenting specifically on the content of her responses in this thread. I actually wish we could get into it politically, though I understand why Max prohibits it. Lately, all of Jeto's posts--IMO--seem totally out of control and hellbent on smashing anything in their path, whether that's warranted or not.

I really don't see a big difference in her posting style. I just just think a lot of the more "vocal" posters here just disagree with her stances.

Whatever. I dig this girl. Carry on, 'Phile.

We'll agree to disagree. It has become a cartoon.

Bugs Bunny rules! When you say things that have large kernels of truth but are also wildly unpopular, oh, well.

Your posts being deleted had nothing to do with being true, untrue, popular or unpopular. They were deleted because they were political.

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but there is no place for that here.
