Phil Spector, inventor of the “Wall of Sound” and one-time producer of The Beatles, was tonight found guilty of murder—more than six years after a blonde ****tail hostess died of a gunshot wound to the mouth at his Los Angeles home.

Spector, 69, a music icon synonymous with the Sixties — and also renowned for his later work with such acts as The Ramones and Tina Turner—faces a prison sentence of 15 years to life after being held responsible for the death of Lana Clarkson in the early hours of Monday, February 3, 2003.

A heavy drinker who reportedly cultivated an obsession with bodyguards and firearms after once being accosted and urinated on by four men in a public toilet, Spector declined to testify during the trial, in spite of being perhaps the only witness.

The producer’s only statement on the shooting to date remains a 2003 comment to Esquire magazine. “She kissed the gun,” he said.

did you happen to see that Ramones doc The End Of The World Slats?

I saw a documentary on them, I'd guess that was probably it. Talk about how Joey and Johnny hated each other, had polar opposite points of view politically, and how Johnny stole Joey's girlfriend (if she ever was his gf), and Joey wrote "The KKK Took My Baby Away," to describe the situation.

Ultimately though they all agreed they hated Phil Spector. They all came to the conclusion that he cost the Ramones one of their few chances to cross over into big-time success. Back to hauling their own equipment in a beat up van.

Kinda hard to see this as anything other than a murderous lunatic getting his just due. But....

Today's NY Post-

RAMONE HORROR

  • April 13, 2009 --

THE ex-wife of Dee Dee Ramone believes the notorious Ramones curse is real and will claim more victims. "My gut feeling tells me this is not over, although I hope to God I'm wrong," Vera Ramone King writes in her memoir, "Poisoned Heart," out in June from Phoenix. King notes that not only have three Ramones died -- Joey of lymphoma, Johnny of prostate cancer and Dee Dee of a heroin overdose -- but their one-time manager, Linda Stein, was beaten to death in 2007. "How does one explain all of these tragic deaths? A coincidence? Maybe? But what if they're not? Who's the next victim?" she writes, adding she herself developed a brain tumor that was successfully removed.

Just like the Beatles. :bag:

But seriously, a woman is dead here. I'm sorry to her family. We'll see how reasonable doubt pans out.

I had something of a little crush on you right up until that statement.

Oh well.
