SouthernJet
OK, for someone with more research chops than me to gather the following: Since the Jets and Giants started sharing stadiums, how many 1st game of season home opener shave Giants has, and how many have Jets had? I see we are again on road to open season this year.. Then when yo uhave the date present in number and % form and I think you will find a ratio that is mathmatically impossible even if throwing darts to set schedule..Stat wide it should be in the 45-55% range, Kiper told me once that the lifers who work in NYC NFL offices are rabid Giants fans and do all they can do help Giants. Thanks to whoever gets the offical numbers.
newjakecity
Since 1984 (the year the Jets moved into the Meadowlands), the Giants have opened up at home 18 times (including 2009). The Jets have opened up at home at home 7 times. Jets opened up at home 28% of the time (I wouldn't be shocked if that is among the lowest, if not the lowest in the league over that same time span). 124
Arizona will have their 3rd Week 1 home game in 22 years, so we can't complain about 7 out of 25 when we play in a stadium that isn't even ours.

Someone should find Shea stats, too. Things were always a mess on the schedule and also for practice and the like because of the Mets. Haha, practicing at Riker's Island, gotta love it. I know they practiced at Downing Stadium on Randall's Island for a while in the early, early days. Haha, they did practice there occasionally in '64 (maybe '63?), but also in '68. I remember something hilarious that prisoners formed a band and would greet the Jets. I know I'm not dreaming, whatsoever. EDIT: Haha, I broke my own rule and looked something up. Shame on me. http://www.nytimes.com/2001/06/07/sports/pro-football-jets-consider-field-at-jail.html?n=Top/News/Sports/Pro%20Football/National%20Football%20League/Kansas%20City%20Chiefs However, I didn't know Bradway also considered it in 2001! Yeah that is definently worse. However, it brings up a point that it seems the NFL gives the same teams home games more often than not to open the season and the same teams road games more often than not. Look home field advantage isn't everything and starting 1-0 isn't everything either, but it does help to get things to a good start. I'm not asking for the Jets (or any other team) to start at home every year, but its ridiculous that there isn't at least some balance to this. leonwash29
I think if we fight hard enough to open the stadium we could get it, its not "giants stadium" anymore we're equal, us opening up will prove that its not giants first jets second

Aten
mathmatically impossible I don't think this means what you think it means. It isn't impossible because it actually happened. It isn't even all that unlikely to draw a 72/28 sample from a 50/50 population when n is only 24. Of course there's Giants bias and of course it's why they always get the stadium the first week, but whatever you're going for here is wrong. There's no need to bring confidence intervals into this. No, the fact that we've only had 7 out of the last 24 or whatever is not of itself proof that the schedule was determined other than randomly. DoubleDown
Honestly, I would rather save the early home games for later in the season when the weather is on our side (against warm weather teams) and the stakes are higher.
