RutgersJetFan
Pick a few. Include at least Rutgers, a Big 12 team, and a SEC team. The good part about the college game is man-law allows you to be a fan of multiple teams. However the latter two are integral as those two conferences usually provide the best games every week, and when bowl season comes you'll be more familiar with who's actually in contention. You can't pick Florida though, that's too easy. That would be like deciding to root for EPL one day and picking Man U as your club, it's just weak. NFLs StepChild
What he said. But I'd go even further and just say leave out Florida teams all together. There is no heart in that. They have too much local talent 4.4 that just goes to a local school and that's it, automatic contender based on speed. Get a team that has a heart and a pulse and has to build and recruit. In college football the journey is all that matters. Few schools will have a real shot at the NCAA Championship game with any consistency. Every week means more than anything, each loss a nail in the coffin and each victory a lotto ticket at greatness. If you can manage to go undefeated, you might get a shot at the Championship, assuming there is not a bigger name school out there that will draw better ratings. But the point is going with an established program like UF,Texas, USC, Michigan, OSU or the like it is just bandwagonning. Find a team that is a fighter, that has no business beating teams but they do, if you can get a ride with that team and be part of the building of the program. Iowa maybe. Wake Forest past few years has been tremendous. UConn may be poised for something special. They have been impressing the past few years. Rutgers was that a few years ago, now they are already in the mix, so it's a bit late to jump on that train imo. I can't in good faith suggest Maryland. It's like pushing the Jets on someone. They give you hope, they improve, they look like they are about to be legit, they beat great teams they shouldn't, get your hopes way up and then they lay down against dogs and rip your heart out of your chest and piss on it and then feed it to you. But Jets fans may be the only ones who might be able to handle that sooooo....You gotta be part of the rise up. *Sorry had to edit* Sorry Rutgers fans... uart
Football .. any suggestions. .. I do technically follow Army football, as much as is possible, but otherwise I don't have a real College team. I DO, however have a formula: Personally, I root for: 1) private schools over public always (They're usually underdogs, not many play FBS Football, and I have a political-predilection toward privatization). 1b) Except Notre Dame, who I have a personal grudge against. 1c) I root for Army, despite it's public-ness (My dad was in the Army, and going to Army games is about the only sports interest we seem to share, besides, I consider the service-academies to be a special case). 1d) I root for Penn State over other public schools, also Temple and Pitt, but PSU over both of them. Those three share a weird quasi-public status that makes them interesting, but Temple and Pitt get knocked down a notch for being bball rivals to Nova 2) I generally avoid rooting for schools whose fans I don't like. 3) I don't root for schools from Florida. 4) I give an edge to schools with high academic standards, because that's what we're really here for people... 5) Always root for Wake Forest. Always.
NFLs StepChild
Army is trying out a 6'10 280 lb WR this year. I am pulling for them big time. I hope this guy just destroys people. Imagine a collision between him and a 5'9 180 lb CB? Oh I am getting giddy. 2,3,4 are great points. Fu<k Wake. I respect the hell out of what they did there, but FU<K THEM. I hate them. PatriotReign37
I like Big 12 football myself ... Graham Harrell, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, even Chase Daniels all in the same league last year ... you can't go wrong. Tech is a fun team to watch, with their wide open offense, but I'd be remiss to no mention my K-State Wildcats ... who are going back to the future this year with Bill Snyder at the helm. Good Point about those QB's. Pick a QB you like and follow his career. K State will be back after that axxhole ran the program into the ground. Synder is an offensive genius. uart
I may end up with two or more college teams.. UNC or NC Wolfpack because i live in Charlotte... Rutgers or Cuse cuz I grew up in Bklyn.. and a SEC team cuz I like the style of football. Since we've now established your location, let me reiterate: ALWAYS ROOT FOR WAKE FOREST. ALWAYS. Maybe they'll run him a few times on a reverse or something.

I don't go to North Jersey too often, it's basically little New York up there. As a central Jersey/Jersey Shore person, the Bennies are my natural enemy. uart
Option with that guy blocking a Safety or CB? HAHAHAHA! Plus like I said I'm more interested in the collisions. True. He's gonna mess some people up... Apparently he is taller than the tallest WR to ever play in the NFL, he's the tallest WR in FBS right now, and apparently last year he played LT. He's also played TE and DE... He caught a couple TD's in their Spring practice anyway.

NFLs StepChild
Yes. Everyone is dying to become a Rutgers, UConn or Syracuse football fan. I think UCOnn has a shot at being a legit program. Also, I've been meaning to ask...any significance to the number 124? Is that a literary reference?

Otter
I love lamp. Are you just looking at things and saying that you love them? As to the question, USC has the best looking cheerleaders, so they're my favorite team.
Morrissey
I've been a USC guy probably since Palmer, soo 2002-2003, I'll always like them, but I've been following Rutgers closely the last few years. I went to one of there games in 2007 vs South Florida, probably the best football game I've ever been to, great atmosphere, so fun.
Jbro22
Rutgers. A no-brainer. Especially if you live in NY/NJ. Schiano has this program up and even more coming. Great things will happen with this team soon, and it will get a hold of NY which has been forever starved for a real college football experience. +1 Forgive for getting on the USF bandwagon. #27TheDominator
went to LIU Bklyn Campus... They had a pretty good basketball team for a week or two. Couple of borderline head cases, Charles Jones and Richie Parker IIRC.
bitonti
Any SEC team, the level of football in that conference is head and shoulders better than any other region in the country. For some reason, I have always liked LSU. +1 I watch a ton of college ball, but have no "favorite" team and I enjoy SEC football the most. Last year Ole Miss was my favorite team to watch - they had prospects all over the team and played a smash mouth brand of football - even beat Florida in the swamp... Snead at Qb, Oher at LT, Jerry at DT, hardy at DE, Wallace at WR, Brandon Bolden at Rb, the other Jerry at RT, Maurice Miller at guard, Jamarica Sanford at DB, i could go on and on all day. another team i'd recommend if you watch alot of big east is Cincinnati - they are super tough, smack people in the mouth, played Oklahoma tough... good unis - nice little team.
