Look @ Matt Cassell and what he did last year with the Patriots...I watched Sanchez play last year, this man is going to be elite and he's a winner. USC produces some really good QB's over the years such as Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Cassell... This Sanchez kid has the potential to be the best of em all

The biggest knock I now have against Sanchez is that DWC likes him. Maybe that's the biggest knock of all.:bag:

Sanchez > Stafford

I'm not sure about that...Stafford does have more experience and has played @ a high level. I think Sanchez has more potential but next year, if both QB's were starters...I think Stafford could be a Matt Ryan and Sanchez would be used as a game manager like Joe Flacco.

But it's stupid to say that Sanchez will be better than Stafford because Stafford is a stud

The Lions should NOT take a QB with the #1, and that's why they WILL take one.

They will likely select Stafford. This means 2 things:

-In 2014 Stafford will be on a practice squad somewhere.

-In 2030, Sanchez will be inducted into the HOF.

If Matt Cassel taught us anything, it's that you dont need that many starts ( or any at all) to be a good QB in the NFL. Sanchez will benefit from playing at USC where they run a pro style offense. He will probably have a more immediate impact than Stafford will, but we'll see.

I agree. I think they'd be wise to take the top OT, and then maybe try to trade up their second first rounder for Freeman. Too much money involved in the #1 pick to risk it on an uncertain QB prospect. The OT should at least be a solid starter for years to come.

If you never draft a QB in the first round, you will never have a bust. You also probably will never have a franchise QB, either.

First round is different than #1 overall. You really need to be sure at that spot.

But Cassel was comfrotable learning from Brady. It's not like he was a rookie coming into week 2 last season.

I like Sanchez, I think he's going to be a great QB. I don't think trading up for him is something we need to do, because we have a lot of holes to fill.
